2019 Education Foundation Galas

Get Away Today is a business that is proud to partner with education foundations throughout the country. The missions and respective efforts of these school foundations are to be applauded and we consider it a privilege to give back to the communities that support our business. We not only enjoy making vacation dreams come true, but find immense joy in helping fund educational aspirations as well.

The Murray Education Foundation (MEF) is on a mission to recognize educators, employees and volunteers in the Murray School District who encourage excellence in their peers and students. Each year, the Foundation hosts the Pinnacle Awards Gala to honor five individuals who represent the best of the Murray School District through their work and service. Get Away Today believes in giving back to the community and in promoting education. As a result, Get Away Today has participated in this yearly gala, and many others, as a sponsor and attendee numerous times throughout the years.

The Murray Education Foundation Pinnacle Awards’ purpose is “to recognize that educators, classified employees, administrators, and volunteers are important, and that outstanding achievement is truly recognized and appreciated.” Get Away Today is honored to donate to this cause and help grow programs that improve the Murray School District and the education it offers to children.

The 2019 Pinnacle Awards Gala celebrated five teachers from the Murray School District as well as a classified employee and a volunteer. These individuals were recognized for their commitment to education, their efforts to improve the quality of Murray schools and their willingness to go above and beyond in service to the students and other educators. Each recipient of the Pinnacle Award was presented with $500, a custom-made statuette and a gift basket from local vendors. This year’s awards gala was an uplifting evening spent celebrating the hard work that goes into creating an environment that supports the education of our children. Jaime, the recipient who was recognized for her volunteer work at Liberty Elementary, has been serving the school throughout all three of her kids’ journeys through the school. Her youngest will soon be moving on to Junior High, so Jaime has spent about a dozen years giving her all to Liberty. Fidel, the head custodian from Grant, brought his principal to tears as she honored him for his attitude and his work for the school. Murray is lucky to have such wonderful people in their education system.

The Pinnacle Awards Gala is not only an opportunity to celebrate members of the community who are committed to education, but it is also an opportunity for Murray culinary students to show off their skills. The banquet is prepared and served by ProStart students who are enrolled in a two-year program that prepares them for working in the restaurant and food service industry. The banquet at the 16th Annual Pinnacle Awards Gala left nothing to be desired! The students did an impeccable job creating, plating and serving their delicious dishes.

Get Away Today has had the privilege of supporting education throughout the state of Utah. Much like the Murray Education Foundation, the Canyons Education Foundation is committed to “enhancing the educational experience for the students of the Canyons School District through community partnerships and fundraising.” Canyons uses funds to offer grants to innovative teachers, scholarships to students heading to college and more.

The Davis Education Foundation also strives to improve the quality of education for its students by funding experiences outside the classroom, equipment to enhance learning and other resources needed to provide a well-rounded education.

The Jordan Education Foundation works diligently to provide educational resources as well as health resources for students who may not otherwise have that access. Through the Principal’s Pantry program in the Jordan District, students can receive assistance to procure eyeglasses, hygiene products and even clothing.

It is our privilege here at Get Away Today to serve our communities alongside these wonderful foundations. Thank you for helping us make dreams come true for kids who need it most! To learn more about our Vacations = Donations program, please call 877-564-6428.
