Top Birthday Tips

If your birthday celebration takes you to the Disneyland® Resort this year (and we think it should!), there are some things you should do to make the birthday boy or girl’s birthday the most magical and memorable yet.  Here are our top three recommendations for birthday celebrations at the Disneyland® Resort.

1. First things first… birthday guests should head straight to City Hall on Main Street or the Guest Relations Lobby in Disney’s California Adventure® Park to collect their very own birthday button.  This alerts all Disney Cast Members that there is a birthday and the guest of honor will receive special attention. Some lucky birthday guests have reported getting a free dessert at a restaurant, having “Happy Birthday” sung to them while on an attraction, and even having their entire group taken through the FASTPASS® entrance on rides!  While these experiences aren’t guaranteed, if they happen, they sure are fun and only possible with a birthday button!

2. Special Birthday Buckets can be purchased for $20* each at any of the full-service restaurants in Disneyland® Park, Disney’s California Adventure® Park, and the Hotels of the Disneyland® Resort.  Choose among a Disney Pirate chest, Sorcerer Mickey bucket, or Disney Princess jewelry box, which are all topped with an individual-sized birthday cake and contain treats.  (These are also available from Room Service at the Hotels of the Disneyland® Resort.)

3. Celebrate with Mickey and Minnie at "My Disneyland Birthday Party" hosted by Pat E. Cake at the Plaza Inn inside Disneyland® Park!  This fun-filled party lasts for approximately 40 minutes and each guest receives a party hat, souvenir sipper cup, mini birthday cake, icing and cake toppings.  Reservations can be made by calling Disney Dining at (714) 781-DINE (3463).  This event costs $15.99* per person.

Thanks for the question. Yes, you do have to be present to pick up your birthday gift. You'll need a photo id that verifies your date of birth. A driver's license will work great.

Thanks for the comment. The Birthday Fun Card can be used towards the purchase of select merchandise items (no food or drink etc.) at participating merchandise locations owned and operated by the owners of the Walt Disney World® and Disneyland® Resorts (mostly inside the parks, no Downtown Disney stores). This means you can purchase merchandise (clothing, Disney plushes, and other souvenirs) at any Disney owned stores, like World of Disney. The Birthday Fun Card may also be used for other select purchases including Disney's PhotoPass® on–site services and tour experiences.
