Nothing says "spring is here" in Washington, DC than the annual return of the world famous cherry blossoms!  Once a year the National Cherry Blossom Festival takes place in our nation's capital to celebrate the blooming of 2,000+ Japanese cherry trees.  The festival officially kicked off on March 28, but will continue through April 12, 2009.  The prime days to experience the cherry blossoms in full force are April 1(today!) - April 4, 2009 with the National Cherry Blossom Parade taking place on April 4 from 10:00 a.m.-12:00 p.m. along Constitution Avenue from 7th to 17th Streets NW.

Tidal Basin paddle boat rides, "Blossoms by Bike" tours, Cherry Blossom Photo Safaris, Cherry Blossom River Teas, cultural performances and many other family friendly activities are available throughout the event.  You won't want to miss the National Cherry Blossom Festival Fireworks Show at the Southwest Waterfront which will end the festivities on April 11, 2009.

One of the best things about Washington DC as a vacation destination is that it is so easy to get to, and so easy to get around once you get there!  With three major airports (Baltimore, Washington Dulles, and Washington Reagan) servicing the area, you are bound to find the perfect air itinerary for your vacation.  Plus, we offer great hotel deals, even for last-minute travel, so you won't miss the gorgeous cherry blossoms!
