Sandcastle enthusiasts from all over will join together this weekend for the 29th Annual US
Open Sandcastle Competition in
San Diego, CA. This two day street festival will take place along Seacoast Drive in Imperial Beach, approximately 20 minutes South of downtown San Diego.
The street festival kicks off on Saturday, July 18 with over 140 vendors providing entertainment, food, arts and crafts, and tons of fun for all ages all set up along Seacoast Drive which is closed to traffic for the event. The Kids-N-Kastles Competition will take place Saturday from 2:00 to 3:30 pm, where kids 12 and under will be competing in one of three categories Castles, Best Sculpture and Creatures of the Sea.
Sunday July 19th, will mark the official start of the 29th U.S. Open Sandcastle Competition. Professional and amateur sand carving teams from across the U.S. will compete for prizes and the highly coveted title of Master's Champion. Sandcastle building will take place from 9am - 2pm, but because of the tides they'll only be able to be viewed until 4pm that day. So, if you want to see the sandcastles, don't delay!
