If you’ve ever considered a remodel job on your own home, you know there are a few areas of a home that will offer the most return on your dollars spent and offer the greatest value. One of those areas is the bathroom. Disney must have gotten the memo on that one, because in my opinion, they spared no expense when creating a whimsical, luxurious feel in the bathrooms of the Disneyland Dream Suite. It was nice to confirm that opinion with someone that actually stayed there. You may recall, Blake, a reservation agent at Get Away Today Vacations, won a night in the Disneyland Dream Suite. He invited his sister, Angie, to join him. He was also excited to host his two nephews, who had never been to the Disneyland® Resort. I had an opportunity to talk with Angie about her experience. She said, “I got a taste of how the other half lives. It was amazing! I didn’t want to leave. Anything and everything you could need or want was at your fingertips.”

During our chat, I asked her about the bathrooms. She loved them. As noted in my earlier article, the master bath offers the bathing experience of a lifetime right down to the bathmats and towels. It’s a bathing sanctuary with its waterfall faucet, jetted tub, and dimmed lights with stars gleaming over-head and 30 minutes of classical music to soothe the soul. It’s an experience you wish could last forever, but because it can’t, designers made even exiting the tub a relaxing delight. Angie, one of the lucky few to have ever experienced it, described stepping onto the bathmat, normally an inconsequential task, like stepping onto a cloud! She continued, “Drying off with Disney bath towels was like was like drying off with a sheet of velvet.”  

The vanity in the master bath is stocked with anything one may need. Angie said the “normal” lighting was beautiful, but there were also make-up lights and mirrors to make you look and feel like a million. Designers took into consideration the great love Walt Disney’s wife, Lillian, had for birds and aviaries. They used bird accents throughout the suite. The master bath faucets are 24 kt. gold swans representative of the swans given to Disneyland® on opening day. Like those precious gifts, these two swans were also lovingly named Walt and Lillian. Swans are also carved into the panel just below the vanity counter top. The bird theme is continued with the customized bathroom tiles graced with a peacock motif.

The guest bath has a more masculine, but elegant feel. Its richness is accentuated by the use of darker tones of maroon, gold, black and dark woods in the décor. I loved it and so did the guests. There is no bathtub experience in this bathroom, but if showers are more your thing, you won’t be disappointed. Angie said, “It was the perfect shower!” The rainfall shower head offered just the right amount of pressure. It was soft enough to be relaxing and feel like you were in a gentle rain, but strong enough that you weren’t irritated as you tried to get the shampoo out of our hair. Angie told me she didn’t want to leave! Can you blame her? Perfection is hard to give up!
