Treasures of the Walt Disney Archives at D23 Expo

While at the D23 Expo held in Anaheim a week or so ago, I had the opportunity to walk through the Treasures of the Walt Disney Archives exhibit.  Here the Walt Disney Company had compiled a number of their most prized possessions and opened them up to the public.  Cameras weren't allowed inside the exhibit, but I did catch a shot of Herbie the Love Bug on display just outside the doors.

Most of the items on display were actual costumes worn by the stars of Disney's most popular movies, like Captain Jack Sparrow's get up worn by Johnny Depp in Pirates of the Caribbean, Giselle's wedding gown worn by Amy Adams in Disney's Enchanted, and even Mary Poppins' classic ensemble worn by Julie Andrews in the 1964 hit film.

Some other eye catching items included Captain Nemo's Nautilus, Davy Crockett's coonskin cap, Hannah Montana's guitar, the bejeweled book from Sleeping Beauty, and even Walt Disney's name tag.  In light of recent events, one of the most popular items on display was the outfit worn by Michael Jackson himself as Captain EO.  This now retired attraction has been rumored to be making a return to Disneyland® Park, but nothing has been officially decided or announced to the public.

Seeing these prized articles in person was a magical experience.  It's so amazing how these items came alive on film.  While all of these pieces have undoubtedly been returned to the vault, there is still so much Disney magic to experience in person.  Tomorrow Halloween Time at the Disneyland® Resort kicks off with newly enhanced attractions and an all-new seasonal fireworks display and the Food and Wine Festival begins its two week celebration at Epcot® at the Walt Disney World® Resort.  If you're craving some Disney magic, be sure to book your next Disney vacation to the Walt Disney World® Resort or Disneyland® Resort today!
