The Magic Kingdom® Park is known as the most magical of the Walt Disney World® Resort's four theme parks, and at the D23 Expo last month, some new announcements were made of plans to make the Magic Kingdom® Park even more magical.  A major expansion of the present Fantasyland at the Walt Disney World® Resort is scheduled to open in 2012 with exciting additions and changes.  The expansion will double the present size of Fantasyland and promises to be the largest overhaul in the Magic Kingdom® Park's 38 year history.

The newest and biggest attraction will be Under the Sea: Journey of the Little Mermaid.  This addition will allow guests to enter Ariel's world and be introduced to beloved characters from the movie.  It is anticipated to be an identical twin on the inside to the Little Mermaid attraction currently under construction at Disney's California Adventure® Park at the Disneyland® Resort in California.  The attraction's exterior will be completely different.

Another big announcement Jay Rasulo made at the D23 Expo during the Imagineering the Future of Disney Parks Presentation is that Dumbo the Flying Elephant, one of the most popular Disney attractions of all time, will double in size, allowing twice the riders of the current attraction.  This attraction also will provide interactive games in a circus atmosphere while guests are waiting in line so they are entertained through the entire experience and will actually want to spend time in the queue!

One major emphasis of the Fantasyland expansion is creating immersive experiences for guests visiting the Walt Disney World® Resort.  In the new Fantasyland guests won't just stand in line to briefly meet a Disney Princess, snap a few photos, and then be on their way.  They'll have the opportunity to connect with the Disney Princesses in their own fairytale worlds in whole new ways.  For example, guests will step into Cinderella's cottage where they'll be transformed into princesses and taught how to act like a princess by Cinderella herself.  Guests will also meet Belle at her father's village where they'll then be transported via magic mirror to the Beast's castle.  Here they'll have the option to perform alongside Belle in the Beast's library.  Hungry guests can then grab a bite to eat at the new "Be Our Guest Restaurant" or at Gaston's Tavern.  Then guests can celebrate with Princess Aurora inside Sleeping Beauty's castle as her fairy godmothers throw her the surprise 16th birthday party she never got to have.  Guests will also be able to shrink down to fairy size in the new Pixie Hollow which is slated to open in 2013.  This interactive area will mimic the Pixie Hollow in Disneyland® Park where guests get to meet Tinker Bell and her fairy friends.

While there is much to be anticipated with the new Fantasyland additions to the Magic Kingdom® Park, there is still so much to see and do at the Walt Disney World® Resort.  With four theme parks, two water parks, and so much more, there are endless opportunities for fun and exploration.  Book your Walt Disney World Resort vacation with Get Away Today and save big!  Book by December 20, 2009 for select travel dates and you'll get 2 days and nights free on 5 night Magic Your Way packages at select Disney Value Resorts!  Or, book a 4 night Magic Your Way package at select Disney Moderate, Deluxe, or Deluxe Villa Resort and you'll get 3 days and nights free!  Availability is limited on this amazing offer, so book your package today by calling 800.523.6116.
