Cruises are quickly becoming one of the most popular vacation options, and it's easy to see why.  With all food, activities, entertainment and transportation included for one low price, they're an incredibly affordable way to visit some of most sought after vacation destinations.  San Diego is also becoming a popular cruise port city because it is so easily accessible from anywhere in the West, it has so much to offer as a destination, and it's the gateway to Baja Mexico and the Mexican Riviera.  San Diego also offers cruises through the Panama Canal and even to Hawaii!  With cruises offering a wide array of tropical and enchanting destinations and itineraries ranging from three days to over two weeks, there is the perfect San Diego based cruise for everyone!

The most convenient place to stay and play pre or post cruise in San Diego is definitely along San Diego’s Big Bay. This incredibly popular area covers SeaPort Village, Harbor Island, Shelter Island, Coronado Island, and much more. For ultimate convenience, stay at a hotel across from the cruise ship terminal (like the Holiday Inn On the Bay) or one that offers a free shuttle (Holiday Inn San Diego Bayside, Best Western Seven Seas, and more), and leave your car parked at the hotel during your cruise.

For the best San Diego experience, we recommend spending at least a few days exploring. If you don’t have that kind of time before or after your cruise, here are some suggestions to make the most of your time (no matter how much you have) in this one-of-a-kind port city:

One –Two Hours:

• The Embarcadaro (free public art)
• Anthony’s Fish Grotto
• Little Italy
• Old Town San Diego
• SeaPort Village
USS Midway Museum
• Maritime Museum of San Diego

Three—Five Hours:

• San Diego City Tours (the Old Town Trolley Tour is a perfect and affordable option with our discount tickets)
• Balboa Park
• Coronado Island
• Horton Plaza

Six Hours (or more):

San Diego Zoo
SeaWorld San Diego
• Gaslamp Quarter
• Coronado Golf Course

With so much to see and do, it's easy to see why San Diego is such a hot vacation destination, and why it makes such a perfect port for your next cruise.  Make your next vacation a cruise out of San Diego and "sea" for yourself how great life is!
