Today
kicks off the first day of Get Away Today’s annual FAM (or
“familiarization”) Trip! Each year our staff takes a weeklong tour of
all the bes
t Southern California has to offer, including all of our
hotel and attraction partners, so we can give you expert advice based
on firsthand experience. It’s all part of the Get Away Today Difference!
Our staff's
day began with a flight to the Orange County Airport. Coach USA picked everyone up and transported them down to sunny San Diego to check in to
the gorgeous Paradise Point Resort. This resort’s 44 acres of tropical
grounds nestled on the shoreline of Mission Bay house bungalow-style
guest rooms, world class dining, swimming pools, a putting green, and
so much more. Our reservation agents were so excited to call this luxurious resort home
during their stay in San Diego!
And the rest of the day has plenty in store. After
gathering for a welcome reception they plan on departing for a tour of the San
Diego Bay on a San Diego Harbor Excursion. While onboard this hour long
excursion they expect to be zipped around the bay and enjoy a professiona
lly guided
tour of the historic highlights including the Star of India, the U.S. Navy surface fleet, Coronado Bay Bridge, and the busy shipyards.
After this exciting San Diego tour, they'll be off to the ultra chic Sofia Hotel in
downtown San Diego. This gem of a hotel envelops its guest in cozy
modern elegance and offers an unbeatable location near all the best
Downtown San Diego has to offer. Across the street and mere footsteps
away is Horton Plaza, one of San Diego’s most famous shopping centers.
The Westin Gaslamp Quarter is set to be the next stop on the itinerary. This "urban retreat" is situated in San Diego's historic Gaslamp Quarter, putting some of San Diego's preeminent 
restaurants and shops literally at your front door. Contemporary decor, flat screen TVs, and bathrooms featuring double showerheads are just the beginning of the amenities and comforts of this popular hotel.
The last stop for the evening is the Holiday Inn on the Bay. This property offers incredible value for families looking to be at the center of it all during their San Diego vacation. A complimentary shuttle is available to take you to Horton Plaza, Seaport Village, and the San Diego Zoo, plus the Gaslamp Quarter is within walking distance. It's also located directly across the street from the cruise ship terminal and is a perfect hotel choice pre or post cruise. After touring this family favorite they'll be treated to a delicious dinner, compliments of the Holiday Inn.
