San Diego and Westin Gaslamp Quarter Spotlight

Last week I traveled with most of the office staff at Get Away Today to become familiarized with some of our contracted hotels in California. The result? I fell in love with several gorgeous lodgings in San Diego. Many of these mild to luxurious hotels are located blocks away from sandy beaches, marinas full of postcard perfect yachts and docked boats, lot of shopping stores, and of course the world famous Shamu, resident at SeaWorld San Diego.

However, if I had to pick a favorite place it would be the Westin Gaslamp Quarter. This elegant and charming hotel hosts 450 stylish guest rooms. The warm and inviting lobby welcomes the weary parent or businessman with soothing lighting, and fresh floral and plant arrangements. Don't forget to check out their signature white tea scents at the gift store.

Nestled next door to the Westin Hotel is a historic outdoor mall known as the Gaslamp Quarter. This area is listed on the National Register of Historic Places and has seen its share of changes over the last 150 years. At one time the Gaslamp Quarter was known more for a seedy red-light district than a respectable market square. Today this downtown 16 1/2 block section of San Diego is home to Victorian-era buildings and offers a delightful array of over 150 shops, restaurants, spas, cultural entertainment, and sightseeing tours. It’s also a short distance from cruise ship terminals.

I love a classy hotel and this urban, modern hotel oozes sophistication. Whether your looking for a romantic get-away to a girls shopping spree, consider the Westin Gaslamp Quarter. You wont be disappointed. Plus, Get Away Today is offering a third or fourth night free during select dates this spring and summer at the Westin! Pair this with our discounted tickets to SeaWorld, LEGOLAND, the San Diego Zoo, and more for the most savings on your San Diego vacation.
