Get Away Today reservations specialist, Christy Hamblin, recently returned from a trip to the
Disneyland® Resort. While on her vacation she was able to enjoy the newest
Character Dining experience that recently opened at the resort, Surf's Up! Breakfast with Mickey and Friends. Here is a special glimpse by Christy into this exciting new dining addition:
"I am a fan of Disney's Character Dining and when word was out that Mickey would be featured for a Character Dining experience, I was intrigued. Surf’s Up! Breakfast with Mickey and Friends recently replaced the Lilo and Stitch Aloha Breakfast at the PCH Grill located in
Disney's Paradise Pier® Hotel. This is the first time Mickey has ever been officially featured in a Character Dining experience outside of the Parks.

Two weeks ago we previewed this new breakfast venue, and I was completely impressed from the moment we arrived until we left. The food is an all-you-care-to-eat buffet. I love to have my own special omelet made and always enjoy the Mickey shaped waffles and pancakes. This time we even tried something new... peanut butter, chocolate and banana French toast! The food is delicious and they have options that will satisfy even the pickiest of eaters.
The characters featured were Mickey Mouse, Minnie Mouse, Stitch, Pluto, and Daisy Duck.

As you can tell by the pictures, the characters do very random things, which create priceless pictures for your remembrance. The characters had surfing lessons, sing-a-longs, hula lessons and other activities with the children.
What I love the most about Disney's Character Dining experiences is to see the characters get right down at eye level with the children. A child visiting from Uruguay turned four on this special visit. They gave him a cupcake with a candle on it, sang “Happy Birthday” and the characters joined in the fun.
The little girl sitting at the table next to us had her Minnie Mouse ears on. When she saw Minnie Mouse, the look on her face was absolutely priceless. Minnie sat right down with her family and spent time with that little girl. I am sure that was the highlight of her vacation to the Happiest Place on Earth.

The tickets you purchase with Get Away Today include the gratuity, and for the superior service you receive at Character Dining, it is a relief to know it is included. Your reservation time is 90 minutes which is plenty of time to fill up on the delicious food, get autographs, and more importantly, take some great pictures. The three of us, all adults, left kicking and screaming . . . we had a blast."
