Step off the beaten path for some all new experiences in paradise as you get a taste of some of these lesser known gems during your
Oahu vacation. While not as widely recognized as the Polynesian Cultural Center, Waikiki Beach, the Aloha Stadium Swap Meet, and other Oahu staples, these distinctly Hawaiian spots are sure to be a hit with the entire family and create truly unique memories.

In addition to boasting the largest collection of Polynesian artifacts in the world, the Bishop Museum also hosts an extensive entomological collection, a planetarium, a “walk through” volcano, and so much more! Plus, through May 2 you can walk the tightrope, dive into the world of contortionists and sword swallowers, and discover the other quirks and exploits of circus life and performers at the special exhibit Circus! Science Under the Big Top.
Haleiwa Farmer’s Market

Afterwards tour the charming streets of Haleiwa Town and hit the beach to watch surfers take on the waves, or even rent a board and give it a go yourself! Haleiwa Farmer’s Market is open every Sunday from 9 a.m.-1 p.m.
Nico’s Fish Market, Uncle’s Fish Market
Get yourself to Pier 38 to watch the famous fish auction in action. Bid if you dare, but your best bet at savoring the amazing catch of the day is heading to Nico’s Fish Market or Uncle’s Fish Market, where some of the best catches will be heading. Located next door to the fish auction on Pier 38, fish doesn’t get any fresher than at Nico’s and a finer plate lunch you will not meet! Uncle’s Fish Market and Grill was awarded second place in Hawaii's Best Seafood in 2010 and features a stunning array of the freshest catches prepared in mouthwateringly perfect ways. Try the award winning Signature Ahi Poke Tower for a sure-fire scrumptious treat.
Kahuku Shrimp Trucks

Dotting Kahuku’s coastline are famous “shrimp trucks,” hole in the wall seafood joints offering the most delicious shrimp on the island. Butter garlic, spicy, coconut, fried, you’ll find it all at these popular outdoor stands. The Famous Kahuku Shrimp Truck, Fumi's Kahuku Shrimp and Seafood, Giovanni's Shrimp Truck are just a few of the shrimp truck options serving up piping hot plates of seafood and rice. To add an even more unique twist to your dining experience, try Romy’s Kahuku Prawns and Shrimp where you can cast a pole and catch your own prawns. Kahuku is less than a ten minute drive from the Polynesian Cultural Center which makes it the perfect place for lunch during your day at the PCC!
