Written by Kimberly Fidler

Get Away Today always keeps you up-to-date on all things going on at the Disneyland ® Resort, including all of the new construction at Disney California Adventure ™ Park and the Disneyland ® Hotel.  Here are the most recent updates on the progress with all of the changes:

Disney California Adventure ™ Park:

Disney’s Aladdin – A Musical Spectacular will be dark Sept. 7 – Oct. 7, 2010. It will reopen on Oct. 8 and will operate Thursday – Monday, with four show times daily. During peak season, Aladdin will operate seven days a week (Christmas weeks, Spring Break and Summer 2011). This (like all of Disney's schedules) is subject to change without notice.

Disney California Adventure ™ Park will have some permanent ride closures: Mulholland Madness will be open to guests for the last time on Oct. 11, 2010 and  Maliboomer's last day of operation is Sept. 6, 2010.  Also, as construction continues on Cars Land, the last day to experience Bountiful Valley Farm will be Sept. 7, 2010, to help pave the way for Mater’s Junkyard Jamboree. Cars Land is situated on 12 acres and will be completed in 2012.

Disneyland ® Hotel Construction Update:

Effective immediately, the North entrance to the Wonder Tower and the Horseshoe Falls and Fantasy Waters areas at the Disneyland ® Hotel are all closed. This closure is on-going for the center-of-property project and the entire closed area is off-limits to hotel guests.  The following access points are closed: Wonder Tower Lobby – The majority of the lobby has been closed. Guests only have access through the South (Wonder Lot) side, Steps by Euro Gifts building to Horseshoe Falls area closed, and the walkway between Cove Pool and Arcade building closed.

Also, there are some courtyard closures at the Disneyland ® Hotel. New dining and lounge experiences will be introduced in the current location of Hook's Pointe, Croc's Bits ‘n’ Bites, the Wine Cellar and Lost Bar. A new "smart casual" dining area will take be themed after the original Tahitian Terrace restaurant in Disneyland ® Park and the Polynesian architecture that was popularized during the early era of the hotel. A new, fully enclosed bar will feature specialty drinks and surprises for guests. Construction for the new water play area, pool, and food and beverage locations is scheduled to begin in August 2010 and be completed by summer 2011.  The Steakhouse 55 lounge will become the primary bar for the Disneyland ® Hotel and will extend operating hours to 11:30 a.m.–1:30 a.m. to accommodate Resort guests.

The Never Land Pool will remain open at this time and poolside service is available, weather permitting. The existing 4,800-square-foot Never Land Pool will receive a complete cosmetic makeover later and will retain its unique theme. A remodeled Never Land Pool is slated for completion by summer 2012.
