"We recently traveled to
San Diego, CA from 11/5-11/9. We stayed at the
Humphrey's Half Moon Inn & Suites located in Harbor Island. The location of the hotel was wonderful as it sat
right by the ocean and a marina. We loved seeing the boats on the harbor and walking along the hotel grounds was very tranquil as well. The hotel is island-themed to give you the feel of a tropical experience. The weather was slightly cooler (in the low 60s) during our stay- we attempted to swim in the pool one evening but it was too cold for our kids. I do not remember if it was a heated pool- if so, it simply was not warm enough. But we did use the hot tub which was nice. One other thing that I liked but some other guests may not appreciate is the occasional thunderous and lingering sounds from the jets that fly to/from a nearby Naval base (I believe by Coronado Island).
The rooms were very clean and nicely decorated- once again the design of the rooms reflected an island theme. I liked how the closet, kitchenette, and bathroom was slightly separated from the sleeping area and the beds were very comfortable.
Overall, the staff was very helpful and friendly. Again the hotel grounds and surrounding areas were very pleasant and relaxing. We had some minor issues, but we definitely had a wonderful time overall. We are glad that we booked the travel through Get Away Today as it was a great price for the amazing experience."
