The Disney Dream ™ made its debut in Florida three weeks ago with a two night Christening Cruise to Disney's private island paradise, Castaway Cay. As your Disney vacation experts, Get Away Today was onboard to experience first hand how incredible this new ship is. The Disney Dream ™ is the first Disney Cruise ship to hit the seas since the Disney Wonder ® set sail in August 1999. To say the least, it's a BIG deal! To show you an overall glimpse of the experience, here is a video that Disney put together of their Inaugural Cruise that took place as soon as we got back from the Christening Cruise:
The Disney Dream ™ is 40% larger than the Disney Magic ® (currently sailing the Caribbean and heading to the Mediterranean this summer) and Disney Wonder ® (currently sailing the Mexican Riviera and heading to Alaska this summer). The Disney Dream ™ has all sorts of whimsical touches throughout, like "magic" interactive artwork, amazing children's areas, and Magical Portholes in all inside staterooms with real-time outside views. We took some video ourselves to give you an insider's view. This video quickly takes you through the children's activity area:
To offer guests the best experience, most of the staterooms on the Disney Dream ™ have either an ocean view or a veranda. We took this video of our veranda room to give you an idea of the decor and layout:
Three beautiful main dining restaurants (Animator's Palate, Enchanted Garden, and Royal Palace) offer delicious dinners with their unique rotational dining system. With Disney's rotational dining, your assigned waiters travel to your assigned restaurants each night, so you always have someone to give you that personal Disney attention. The Disney Dream ™ also has two stunning adults only restaurants: Remy, which features French cuisine and Palo, which serves Northern Italian cuisine. Both restaurants offer an intimate, romantic atmosphere and require a small additional charge. This video shows a brief tour of Animator's Palate - an interactive restaurant that's more like dinner and a show in one:
After dinner our second (and last) night on the Christening Cruise, we got to see the new Mickey's Pirates IN the Caribbean Party and incredible fireworks display. Although it's much better in person, you can watch the fireworks show here:
