Disneyland: Parking vs. Taking a Shuttle—Which is Best?

Questions about Disneyland ® Resort parking and shuttles are some of the most frequent inquiries we hear at Get Away Today. As your Southern California vacation experts, we are here to help you get to the bottom of all your vacation details so your family can not only find the best deal, but have a wonderfully stress-free vacation. Here is the inside scoop on the ins-and-outs of parking versus taking a shuttle at The Happiest Place on Earth:

Parking at the Disneyland ® Resort is $15 a day and includes in-and-out privileges. Disneyland’s parking structures open an hour before the Park opens, and days where Magic Morning Early Admission is offered, the Mickey & Friends parking structure opens 90 minutes before the published Disneyland ® Park opening time. Cash, credit cards, prepaid parking vouchers, Disney Gift Cards, and Disney Dollars are all valid forms of payment when parking at the Disneyland ® Resort.

The Anaheim Resort Transit System, or ART, is a network of shuttles that services most Anaheim area hotels and attractions. Each ART shuttle stops at the Disneyland ® Resort and runs approximately every 20 minutes. Service begins an hour before the Park opens each day and ends half an hour after the Park closes. During your shuttle ride, the bus will stop at several hotels to pick up guests. In addition to the Disneyland ® Resort and Downtown Disney, ART shuttles also service Anaheim GardenWalk, The Block at Orange, Angel Stadium of Anaheim, and the Honda Center, home of the Anaheim Ducks. Strollers are welcome on ART shuttles as long as they are folded.

Get Away Today offers discounted ART shuttle tickets that give you 5 Days of Unlimited Transportation for the Price of 3 AND 1 child free per paying adult (ages 3-9)! Children 2 and under ride free. Adult ART Passes (age 10+) are only $10, and additional children are only $2. This is a $6 savings per adult over the “gate price” fare. These savings can add up! Check out some sample pricing for a typical family vacation:

Family of 4 Staying Three Days
Parking at Disneyland: $45
ART “Gate Price”: $24
Get Away Today’s ART Shuttle Pass: $20

Family of 4 Staying 5 Days
Parking at Disneyland: $75
ART “Gate Price”: $40
Get Away Today ART Shuttle Pass: $20

So which is right for you? It all comes down to personal preference! Some guests prefer the direct drive plus the flexibility of parking at the Disneyland ® Resort; others prefer the low-stress and low-cost option of letting an ART shuttle do the driving instead of navigating the streets of Anaheim on their own. Whichever you choose, Let Get Away Today “get you there” by booking your complete Disneyland ® Resort vacation package through us! Not only will you find unbeatable deals on transportation, we also have the best price on Disneyland ® Resort Park Hopper ® Tickets, and hotels in the Anaheim area!

We tried both on our last trip. We bought the 5 day shuttle passes for 2 adults and 4 kids. The shuttle was such a nightmare. We have 2 babies and 2 strollers. You have to take the kids out and ALL the baggage that come along with having kids so the strollers can be folded. They cram way too many ppl on the shuttle, so you feel like a sardine. I watched one elderly man with a cane be pushed and stepped on and if all seats are taken ppl have to stand. No one would let this poor guy sit down. You have to wait what seems like a lifetime for a shuttle at night. Drivers get grumpy and just want to go home. I could go on on how much of a nightmare the 1st day was. For the rest of the week we said the heck with it lets try just driving ourselves and it was such a much better way for us. Especially if you have kids, strollers and extra souvenir bags to bring back with you. You park in a covered garage. Their shuttle still makes you take babies out of the strollers for safety, but everything else can stay in the stroller, bags, drinks, coolers whatever and their ppl will even load and unload for you. All you have to do is go sit down. They have so many shuttles that the wait time is none to only a few min!! If you are adults or and your kids are older and you are not bring a bunch of stuff nor mind being a sardine and can't breathe then the shuttle might be ok, but I will always just pay the extra to park at the park!! Way easier and less wait time!!
