LEGOLAND California recently announced plans to open a LEGOLAND Hotel on-property in the summer of 2013. This three story hotel will feature 250 LEGO themed rooms as well as a pool and a restaurant. Families with young children will love the bright décor and unbeatable location mere steps from the gates of LEGOLAND.

The hotel will be built near LEGOLAND’s main entrance in an area that currently serves as bus parking. This will be the first hotel of its kind in the United States. The LEGOLAND Windsor Hotel will be opening in 2012, and Denmark’s LEGOLAND Billund launched the first LEGOLAND hotel in1991.
When the LEGOLAND California hotel was officially announced at the future hotel site on August 25, Carlsbad Mayor Tem Ann Kulchin congratulated LEGOLAND on the realization of their hotel plans years in the making before 28,000 (over 1,000 pounds!) of colorful DUPLO bricks were showered down from a front loader onto a bed brought in to keep with the hotel-themed occasion. Pajama clad youngsters from the Boys and Girls Clubs of Carlsbad were invited to play in the sea of over-sized LEGO blocks to celebrate.
