San Diego: October is Kids Free Month!

If you have kids and love to travel, you need to know about Kids Free Month in San Diego. San Diego is one of my all time favorite vacation destinations. Each October the best San Diego attractions join forces and offer free admission for kids - ALL MONTH LONG! Add kids free tickets with insanely gorgeous weather, Fall Break for your school aged kids and Get Away Today's hotel specials, and you have the perfect combination for a San Diego vacation. Each of the top attractions have different rules and ages, so here are the details of what you need to know:

Kids Free SeaWorld San Diego: One child ages 3-9 gets in free with each full-price adult ticket purchased. This offer is only valid for one-day admission and can't be combined with our 7-Days for the Price of 1 Ticket special. As an added bonus, SeaWorld San Diego celebrates the season each weekend in October with its Halloween Spooktacular.

Kids Free San Diego Zoo: All kids age 3-11 get in free with an adult. Free admission does not include bus tour or Skyfari, but can be added at the gate. Be sure to visit Panda Canyon to see the world-famous pandas and stop by the new interactive Polar Bear Plunge - all included with admission.

Kids Free San Diego Zoo's Safari Park: All kids 3-11 get in free with an adult. Free admission does not include Africa Tram or other safari types. Safaris can be upgraded at the park. My #1 must-see at the Safari Park is Cheetah Run where you get to see the world's fastest mammal get up to full speed (70 mph) in seconds. It's truly amazing.

Kids Free USS Midway Museum: Two children aged 12 and under get free admission when accompanied by a paying adult. Make sure you allow enough time for the full audio tour which includes the living and work spaces on the aircraft carrier and the flight deck where you can explore actual jets and planes used by the military.

Kids Free Flagship Cruises & Events: One child ages 12 and under gets a free tour with each paying adult. You can choose from one or two hour tours. One hour tours include a choice of the North or South Bay. Two hour tours include both the North and South Bay tour.

Kids Free Old Town Trolley Tours: One child ages 4-12 rides free with each paying adult on the San Diego Old Town Trolley Tour. This tour allows on and off privileges and is a perfect way to get oriented with San Diego. I recommend doing the Old Town Trolley Tour on your first day of vacation to see if there's anything extra you want to fit into your vacation.

Kids Free San Diego SEAL Tours: One child ages 4-12 rides free with each paying adult. The SEAL Tours are another awesome way to "sea" the city. You'll start on land, then your bus becomes a boat as you cruise into the San Diego Bay. It's unlike any tour you've ever experienced and one of my favorites.

With these amazing ticket deals, the best hotel specials are sure to go quickly. Some of my favorite hotels are offering free nights during October. The Comfort Suites Mission Valley and the Town and Country Resort are two of the best values for families even without their free night specials! The Sheraton San Diego Hotel & Marina, Paradise Point Resort & Spa and the Hilton San Diego Resort are all deluxe properties at an affordable price with a free night special on select dates throughout October. Availability is limited, so be sure to book your Kids Free San Diego vacation today!

Hi Anonymous, the San Diego Zoo does not have a limit to the number of free kids (within reason) with each paid adult - it's the best deal around! You can find more information on this year's Kids Free Month here: http://www.getawaytoday.com/sandiegokidsfreeoctober

For the San Diego Zoo, is it just 1 child per adult? I'm a single mother and have 2 kids.

At this time Legoland is not participating in the October Kids Free Month. However, new attractions are still being added at this point. If they decide to participate, we will let you know on our blog and social media. :)

Megan, We can't guarantee that the kids free will be offered at the gate. You can purchase your tickets ahead of time at http://www.getawaytoday.com/tickets/SanDiego or by calling us at 855-GET-AWAY. Just be sure to select the October "Buy an Adult Single Day and get a Kid's Single Day Free" offer.

Is Legoland California participating?

For Sea World, do we have to purchase at the gate to get the kids in free?
