Cute and Easy Pumpkin Mickey Trick-or-Treat Bucket

By Adelle Belnap 09/24/2015

Halloween is just around the corner and we have a just the spell to bring Disney into your holiday festivities! To help prepare your little boys and ghouls for Halloween around your neighborhood, or Mickey's Halloween Party if you're lucky enough to be going to Halloween Time at the Disneyland Resort, I created a quick and simple DIY Mickey Trick-or-Treat bucket tutorial. This cute Mickey bucket is perfect for any little trick-or-treater who loves Mickey. If you want to treat yourself to some extra Disney magic this Halloween season, this tutorial will do the trick!

You will need:
Orange Pumpkin Bucket
2 Squares of Black Felt
Mickey Ear Pattern
Hot Glue Gun
Heavy Cardstock or Posterboard
Mickey Pumpkin Face Shapes
Acrylic Black Paint
Sharpie
Scissors

Begin the process by printing the Mickey Ear Pattern and the Mickey Pumpkin Face Shapes. Cut the pattern pieces out. To make the ears, trace the pattern onto heavy cardstock or poster board and cut two. You want it to be pretty sturdy.

Check the ears to make sure they fit onto your bucket.

Cut four 6" x 6" pieces of black felt. Line the edges of the ear with glue using a hot glue gun. Sick the ear onto a piece of black felt. Press the edges down firmly so the cardboard is secure to the fabric. Then, cut the felt around ear pattern leaving a small border around the cardboard. Cut a straight slit up the part where the ear slides over the edge of the bucket.

Place glue on the second side of the cardboard ear and press it onto a square of black felt. Make sure the edges are all pressed down tightly. Then, cut around the felt.

Repeat this process to make the second ear.

Check to make sure you are happy with them, and then set the ears aside for a moment.

Tape the face pattern pieces onto the bucket. Make sure you like the layout and spacing. Then, trace around the edges with your marker to mark where each shape will go.

I colored the shapes in with a black Sharpie Marker, and then painted over them with black acrylic paint to make it extra black. Just go slowly and stay in the lines. It is really easy.

Once the paint is dry, you can secure the ears in place. Cut four strips of black felt about 3/4 inches wide and 2 inches long. Place hot glue along the back of the ear when the ear connects to the bucket. Then cover it with a strip of felt.

Glue the outside and inside of each ear. Do not glue on the front of the ear. Just the back. You want it to be pretty from the front. When the glue is dry, the bucket is complete! Simple, right?

I hope you enjoy filling your Mickey Trick-or-Treat Buckets with sweet treats.
