Get Away Today Returns from Southern California

By Kimberly Fidler 11/11/2013

To say that our staff had a great time in Southern California would be an understatement. Our final day in San Diego was beautiful. We began by touring the Hyatt Regency Mission Bay and the Dana on Mission Bay, both located on this picturesque water playground. The Dana on Mission Bay is almost more like two resorts in one - the standard rooms are all on one half of the property and the bay view suites are all on another half of the property. Each side has a fantastic swimming pool and all of the rooms are gorgeous and come equipped with a microwave and mini fridge. The property offers tennis, ping pong and shuffleboard onsite and also features marina and bicycle rentals. The Dana also features two restaurants (the Blue Pearl and Firefly) and a seasonal tropical pool bar. It is a perfect choice for families.

We then took to the waters of the San Diego Bay with a Flagship Harbor Tour. Everyone who goes to San Diego really should do a tour on the bay. You get a whole new perspective of the city. Flagship Tours offers three different tour options: a one hour North Bay, a one hour South Bay and a two hour version covering the entire bay. We can help you decide which would be best depending on your group's interests.

After our harbor tour, we headed over to the Manchester Grand Hyatt San Diego for a delicious lunch and a tour. This stunning hotel is an easily recognizable part of San Diego's skyline. The two towers have over 1,600 recently renovated guestrooms, seven restaurants and bars (plus a seasonal pool bar & grill), a rooftop family pool with fire pits, an adults-only pool, a spa, Camp Hyatt for kids ages 3-12 and more. Although within walking distance to Seaport Village, Horton Plaza, Petco Park and the San Diego Convention Center, it is a destination in and of itself!

We ended our time in San Diego at SeaWorld - a must for any San Diego vacation.  Our staff rode Manta, watched One Ocean - the Shamu Show and Sea Lions LIVE, explored exhibits like Dolphin Point, Turtle Reef and Shark Encounter, and even saw the theater where Madagascar Live! Operation: Vacation is performed. This new show is a huge hit for families!

We were sad to leave California, but so excited to come back to the office with fresh information for our guests. We love helping families create memories that they'll cherish forever. Call our Vacation Experts at 855-GET-AWAY
