UPDATE JANUARY 2024. There is a lot to consider when planning a Walt Disney World vacation: dates, ticket types, hotels, transportation, and more. One question we get a lot is regarding Walt Disney World dining plans. Unlike the previous version of dining plans you might be familiar with, Walt Disney World now has something simpler and even better in store for you!

Walt Disney World has a few dining plan options, which one you use depends on your dates of travel and other factors.

Dining plans available for booking at Walt Disney World Resort are:
  • Disney Quick Service Dining Plan
  • Disney Dining Plans

In this article we’ll explore each of these options and help you decide which is best for your Walt Disney World vacation

Walt Disney World Resort Dining Plan Details

If you’re visiting Walt Disney World in 2024, the Disney Dining Plan is for you! This is the same Dining Plan you’ve heard about or used on visits prior to 2020.

Choose from two popular options:
  • Disney Quick Service Dining Plan
  • Disney Dining Plan

Both plans offer a great value for families and access to many spectacular food and beverage offerings across Walt Disney World.

Here is how to add a Disney Dining Plan to your Walt Disney World vacation.

STEP ONE: Choose your arrival dates from January 9, 2024 and beyond. Bookings for 2024 are now open.

STEP TWO: Choose your Walt Disney World Resort hotel. You can see our Get Away Today reviews of all Walt Disney World Resorts below.

STEP THREE: Choose which Disney Dining Plan is best for your family.
  • Disney Quick Service Dining Plan
  • Disney Dining Plan

Not sure which dining plan is right for you? Not to worry—keep reading for all the details below as we break it down further.

What is a Dining Plan?

A Dining Plan is a way to prepay for food and snacks during your Walt Disney World vacation. Dining Plans include a set number of meals and snacks per person, per night. For example, if you’re staying 4 nights at a Disney Resort Hotel you will get 3 days worth of meals and snacks.

It’s easy to confuse the number of in-park days with the number of nights and dining plans. Here’s a quick way to remember how it breaks down:
  • 2-1-1. Two park days, one night, one day of dining plans.
  • 3-2-2. Three park days, two nights, two days of dining plans.
  • 4-3-3. Four park days, three nights, three days of dining plans.
  • 5-4-4. Five park days, four nights, four days of dining plans.

And so on. Keep reading for more FAQs about the Disney Dining Plan and how we can help you save during your vacation.

How much is the Disney Dining Plan?

The Disney Dining Plans in 2024 start at $57.01 per adult (ages 10+) and $23.83 per child (ages 3 – 9), per person, per night. It’s important to note that pricing can change at any time, so we encourage you to add this to your initial booking to lock in the best prices.

Where can I use the Disney Dining Plan?

There are over 200 locations you can visit and use the Disney Dining Plan. That’s a lot of food options! Keep reading as we answer more questions and list out each dining experience that’s valid with the Disney Dining Plan.

How do I use the Disney Dining Plan?

You will receive your full allotment of snack and meal credits the day you check in and can start chowing down right then! You can keep track of your credits in the My Disney Experience app. It’s up to you if you want to use all of your credits the first day or spread them out throughout your visit. The only thing to note is they must all be used by midnight the day of check out.

Redeem your credits by tapping your MagicBand or complimentary Key to the World Card as you pay for your meal. You can also use the Dining Plan for Mobile Orders.

Is the Disney Dining Plan worth it?

Dining Plans are convenient and prepaid! We love the convenience factor and how it makes budgeting for your Walt Disney World vacation so much easier. Whether or not the actual dollar amount will be worth it will vary from family to family and depend on your dining style.

Disney Dining Plans are particularly a great value for:
  • Guests with hungry teens
  • Guests who don't usually share meals
  • Guests who plan to dine at a Character location

Are tips included in the Dining Plan?

No, gratuities and tips are not included. This only applies when you’re dining at a Table Service location. It’s also important to know that Disney automatically charges parties of 6 or more 18% in gratuities which will be shown on your final bill.

Any secrets for using the Disney Dining Plan effectively?

Yes, and you know we love sharing Disney secrets. The Disney Dining Plan allows you to trade up! For example, two table service credits can be used at dinner shows like the Hoop De Doo Musical Review.

We also love using last minute snack credits for things like rice krispy treats and Goofy's candy to bring home or eat at the airport.
