Honeymoon Spotlight: Sandals Grenada

Since Valentine's Day is just around the corner, we thought it would be fun to share a fun honeymoon story from newlyweds who chose to vacation at one of the most romantic resorts in the world, Sandals La Source Resort in Granada! Enjoy:

"My husband (ah, it’s so nice to finally be able to call him that!), Jordan, and I just spent our honeymoon on the lovely island of Grenada, situated at the bottom of the Caribbean just above Venezuela and known for its export of exotic spices. We stayed at the Sandals La Source resort that recently opened in December of 2013 and couldn’t have imagined staying anywhere else for multiple reasons.

Our absolute favorite part of the trip was the island itself. Grenada is a small island (we drove around the entire island within two hours on one of our trips) that leaves you breathless. The country’s flag (pictured below) explains why: the yellow represents the golden sunshine, the green represents the lush foliage, and the red represents the blood of the people.

Jordan and I have never visited another city that was as welcoming as Grenada was. You may think it was just because we stayed on Sandals property (whose employees are known for being extremely polite and kind), but even off property the island natives smiled and welcomed everyone they passed. While the people made the island shine, the nature was something beyond that.

Jordan and I chose to explore the island more by taking advantage of the tours offered through Sandals’ partner, Island Route. Every couple we spoke to agreed that the Jeep Adventure and River Tubing tour was the best on the island. The tour includes exploring the island in a topless jeep before taking a soak in natural sulfur springs and river tubing down a river that runs straight through the rain forest.

The only tour that came close to the river tubing tour was the power boat and snorkeling tour where we explored the underwater sculpture garden off the coast of the island. If you’re feeling adventurous, choose the power boat tour where you get to steer your own. Jordan and I laughed the most on those few hours of navigating the waves; when they say to take off your hats, they mean it (or else you might owe your husband a new Bears hat and have video proof of it flying off into the ocean for him to forever tease you with)! The snorkeling was an amazing finish to the tour and we both bought a snorkeling set immediately after so we could explore the resort’s beach on our own for the rest of the stay.

Jordan and I are more than thankful that we chose to stay at the Sandals La Source Resort. You don’t hear about many young couples staying at Sandals Resorts so we had been hesitant, but after talking to a few couples on the flight back who hadn't stayed at Sandals, we knew we made the right choice both experience and money wise! The fact that it’s all inclusive (trust me, you will want to take a Caribbean cooking class when you get home because you will miss the food so much) and on a gorgeous island should be enough to have you searching for flights right now. Don’t be afraid to take a chance on Sandals for a romantic getaway – Jordan and I loved it so much that we've already booked a trip
to Jamaica through Sandals!
