When planning your Disney Aulani vacation, you'll definitely want to make time for Character Dining. Before you reserve your spot for Character Dining, here are a few things you need to know about Character Dining at Makahiki—The Bounty of the Islands while visiting Disney Aulani in Hawaii.

Disney Aulani Character Dining Makahiki Reservations

Since there is currently only one Character Dining option at Aulani, it fills very quickly! Not only is Makahiki—The Bounty of the Islands a gorgeous restaurant, the food and intimate atmosphere you get with Disney characters is phenomenal. In addition, the Character Dining experience is only offered during breakfast hours so keep that in mind when booking.

Character Dining at Disney Aulani can be booked 30 days in advance, and if you're traveling during a busier travel time, you'll want to follow that 30 day guideline.

You can make an Aulani Character Dining reservation by calling (808)-674-6200. You'll need to hold your reservation with a credit card or your Aulani room reservation. You won't be charged anything at the time unless you do not show up for your reservation. Cancelation periods vary but will be noted at the time of booking. Some reservations may require payment in full at the time of booking.

Kids ages two and under eat for free at Disney Aulani Character Dining and child Character Dining prices are for children ages 3-9 and adult Character Dining prices are for anyone 10 and older.

You'll want your camera handy at all times. If there's one thing Character Dining is at Aulani, it's unpredictable in the best possible way. You never know who you'll meet or what crazy antics the characters will be up to.

Which Characters Can You Meet at Character Dining?

Makahiki Restaurant hosts Character Breakfast daily. Upon arrival you will meet Mickey Mouse in his Aloha attire. Once inside you will meet Minnie Mouse cooking up some delicious breakfast dishes. Then, roaming characters will come visit you at your table throughout the meal.

Do You Have to Be a Guest at Aulani to Do Character Dining?

Anyone can dine at Aulani! This includes locals and guests from other resorts. Even if you’re not staying at Disney Aulani, you can book a dining reservation or a Character Dining experience at Aulani’s Makahiki. In fact, Day Guests are welcome to enjoy:
Various dining options
Shopping at Aulani
Spa experiences

However, most amenities including the pools, beach equipment and activities are exclusive to overnight Guests staying at Aulani.

If you are stopping by just for a visit, you can receive parking validation for 2.5 hours when you dine at select locations or make a minimum shopping purchase

Which Aulani Restaurants have Character Dining?

There are several dining locations at Disney Aulani in Hawaii and all offer something unique but only one offers Character Dining.

Here is a list of all dining locations at Aulani, including the solo Character Dining option:
  • ‘AMA‘AMA – Contemporary Island Cooking. This elegant, oceanfront setting is open for dinner-only on select nights.
  • KA WA‘A – A Lū‘au provides an enchanting journey through Hawaiian history, sharing its deep cultural roots in canoe (waʻa) exploration, which brought the first ancient explorers to the shores of Ko Olina.
  • Makahiki — The Bounty of the Islands offers Character Dining for breakfast only with a casual family-friendly preset 3-course breakfast featuring fresh local ingredients and chef-inspired dishes.
  • Ulu Cafe self-serve items or cooked-to-order specialties that you can take to go or enjoy around the resort.
  • Off the Hook offers food and drinks in a covered lounge with sports on flat-screen TVs—or you can mobile order on the Aulani app and take your items to go.
  • The ‘Ōlelo Room is an indoor/outdoor lounge with cool starters, hot plates, refreshing beverages and live music.
  • Various pool bars and snack shops are also available throughout Aulani Resort.

If you have enjoyed Character Dining at other Disney Resorts you’ll likely find the dining at Makahiki to be a much calmer, laid back experience. Our Get Away Today team particularly loves that this is not a buffet, but a preset 3-course breakfast. It really allows you to take your time and enjoy the ambiance, meal and characters.

Aulani Character Dining Menus

While Aulani’s Character Dining is a preset 3-course breakfast, we found our server was more than happy to refresh our table with our favorite pastries throughout the meal (the guava danish is a staff favorite!).

During your character meal, you can look forward to sweet and savory dishes such as:
  • Kalua pig omlet
  • Eggs benedict
  • Hawaiian style loco moco
  • Punaluu sweet bread french toast
  • Kid-friendly favorites like Mickey waffles as well

How Much Does Character Dining Cost at Disney Aulani?

Makahiki at Aulani has Character Dining for breakfast only. Adults are $49.00 Keiki (ages 9 and under) $29.00. Kids under 3 years old are welcome to share food with an adult without paying extra.

What’s the Best Character Dining at Aulani?

Since there is only one, there is a clear winner and that is Makahiki for character breakfast. Even though there is one option, it truly is one of the better Character Dining options our team has enjoyed throughout the Disney Resorts
