Disney Dining Plan: How It Works and Who Should Buy It
July 8, 2026

UPDATED FOR 2026 and 2027 travel. There is a lot to consider when planning a Walt Disney World vacation:dates, ticket types, hotels, transportation, and more. One question we get a lot is regarding Walt Disney World dining plans.

Walt Disney World has a few dining plan options which can help you better budget your spending during vacation and keep things customized for your family’s preferences and travel style.

How Does the Disney Dining Plan Work?

Dining Plans are added as part of your Disney World vacation package with Get Away Today. They are optional, but many families love adding dining plans to their trip because:

  • Dining Plans offer a great value for families during their trips
  • It’s easier to budget your spending when you add a dining plan to your already discounted Walt Disney World vacation
  • You’ll get access to a variety of food and beverage offerings across Walt Disney World

In this article we’ll explore each of Disney Dining Plan options to help you decide which is best for your family vacation.

WHO NEEDS A DINING PLAN:

Once you’ve decided to add a Disney Dining Plan to your trip, we can help you sort out all the details. Everyone in your party ages 3 and over will need a Dining Plan.

WHAT FOOD IS INCLUDED:

Dining plans include 1 resort-refillable drink mug and a set number of meals and snacks based on the number of nights of your resort stay. You’ll have access to snacks and meals for the duration of your stay.

Unused meals roll over day-to-day until midnight on your check-out day. You are not limited to a specific number of meals per day. You can mix and bundle your meals to fit your schedule—it really is that flexible!

WHAT TYPES OF DINING PLANS ARE AVAILABLE:

The Disney Dining Plan continues to evolve based on what families want. Currently, we can add these dining plans to your vacation.

  • Quick-Service Dining Plan (flexible, no dining reservations needed)
  • Table-Service Dining Plan (sit down dining and quick service combo)
  • Deluxe Table-Service Dining Plan (for upcoming 2027 vacation packages)

What is a Dining Plan?

A Dining Plan is a way to prepay for food and snacks during your Walt Disney World vacation. Dining Plans include a set number of meals and snacks per person, per night. For example, if you’re staying 4 nights at a Disney Resort Hotel you will get 3 days worth of meals and snacks.

It’s easy to confuse the number of in-park days with the number of nights and dining plans. Here’s a quick way to remember how it breaks down:
  • 2-1-1. Two park days, one night, one day of dining plans.
  • 3-2-2. Three park days, two nights, two days of dining plans.
  • 4-3-3. Four park days, three nights, three days of dining plans.
  • 5-4-4. Five park days, four nights, four days of dining plans.

And so on. Keep reading for more FAQs about the Disney Dining Plan and how we can help you save during your vacation.
