Disneyland® Resort Reopening Information

DISNEYLAND® Resort Official Statement

“Because theme park capacity will be significantly limited to comply with governmental requirements and promote physical distancing, the Disneyland® Resort will manage attendance through a new theme park reservation system that will require all Guests, including Annual Passholders, to obtain a reservation for park entry in advance. Theme park reservations will be subject to availability. More details about this new reservation system will be available soon. At this time, there will also be a temporary pause on new ticket sales and Annual Passport sales and renewals. Additional details will be available soon. Please check Disneyland.com for the most current information.”

When will the DISNEYLAND® Resort reopen?

The Disneyland® Resort originally announced a proposed reopening date of July 17, 2020. However, this proposed reopening date has been delayed until further notice. We expect to hear a new opening date sometime after July 4, 2020, pending state and local government approval. We will be sure to update this page as more information is released.

Will reservations be required to visit the DISNEYLAND® Resort? How do I make a reservation?

Due to reduced Park capacity because of COVID-19, reservations will be required in order to visit the Disneyland® Resort. Please note that a valid theme park ticket does not guarantee entrance into the Disneyland® Resort. Reservations will be required in order to visit. However, we have not heard any details of how that will work, including how far in advance Park reservations can be made, or how long the Disneyland® Resort will require reservations. However, we do know that the names and dates in our system will not be connected to the new Park reservations system. This means that you will enter your own Park dates, and can assign ticket names when the system is available. You will need your ticket numbers in order to access Disney's system. You will need to know your exact travel dates in order to make a Park reservation. You can find your ticket number located beneath the barcode within the attachment of your email itinerary, which you should already have. Because we do no know additional information at this time, we'd recommend not putting your tickets into the Disneyland® app until further notice.

Please be aware that Get Away Today is not responsible for making your reservation and you will be responsible for making your own reservation in order to visit the Disneyland® Resort. We will be sure to update this page as soon as we recieve any updates. Reservations are subject to availability and are not guaranteed.

Do I need to make a reservation on my own to visit the DISNEYLAND® Resort? Or will Get Away Today make a reservation for me?

Get Away Today is not responsible for making your reservation and you will be responsible for making your own reservation in order to visit the Disneyland® Resort. As soon as we receive more information regarding Disneyland's new reservation system, we will be sure to update this page.

Can I still purchase DISNEYLAND® Resort tickets?

The Disneyland® Resort temporarily stopped selling tickets effective immediately on June 10, 2020 in order to make sure that those guests who already have tickets can get Park reservations which will be required when the Disneyland® Resort reopens. We don’t know when Disneyland® Resort ticket sales will be available again, however, we expect it to be after the Parks have been open and have a better idea of how the Park reservation system is going.

If you’re just changing travel dates within the same year, you do NOT need to let us know. You will be able to add tickets to your vacation and change existing tickets (add or subtract days, change ticket type) if your ticket allows once the Disneyland® Resort resumes ticket sales.

When will my DISNEYLAND® Resort tickets expire?

Any Disneyland® Resort tickets that were purchased on or before February 20, 2020 are valid for travel until December 31, 2020. Any Disneyland® Resort tickets that were purchased on or after February 21, 2020 are valid for travel until December 31, 2021.

The Kids Spring special ticket has been extended for travel through December 16, 2021. Please note that the entirety of your ticket needs to be used by December 16, 2021. Blockout dates of December 19, 2020 - January 4, 2021, March 26 - April 11, 2021; July 4, 2021; November 20-27, 2021 apply to the Kids Spring ticket.

The Southern California Resident ticket expiration date has been extended through December 16, 2021. Blockout dates of November 21-28, 2020; December 19, 2020 - January 10, 2021; March 26-April 11; July 4; November 20-27, 2021 apply. A Southern California Photo ID is still required to use this ticket and must be presented at the park for admission.

Am I able to change my DISNEYLAND® Resort tickets after I purchase them?

After Friday, June 19, 2020, you will not be able to change your Disneyland® Resort tickets. You will be able to cancel your tickets, however, you will not be able to make any adjustments. If you need to change your ticket type, please do so before 5pm MT on Friday June 19, 2020.

If you’re just changing travel dates within the same year, you do NOT need to let us know. You will be able to add tickets to your vacation and change existing tickets (add or subtract days, change ticket type) if your ticket allows once the Disneyland® Resort resumes ticket sales.

If I paid for my DISNEYLAND® Resort tickets in full, when will I receive my tickets?

If you paid for your Disneyland® Resort tickets in full, you will receive your Disneyland® Resort tickets to the email address provided at time of booking within 24-72 hours. Typically, we send Disneyland® Resort tickets seven days prior to travel. However, due to the new reservation system, you will receive your tickets as soon as possible.

What if I have DISNEYLAND® Resort tickets on a Layaway Plan?

Because Disney is temporarily suspending any new ticket sales, all Disneyland® tickets that are on a Layaway Plan need to be paid in full by Friday, June 19, 2020. However, if you purchased a vacation package, you can still keep your hotel stay, and any other non-Disney related tickets on the Layaway Plan to be paid off seven days before travel. After June 19, 2020, we will not be able to send any new Disneyland® ticket numbers.

IMPORTANT: In order to pay off the Disneyland® Resort ticket portion of your Layaway Plan, you must be helped by an agent directly. Making a partial payment on your Layaway Plan online does not mean that your Disneyland® Resort tickets are paid in full. Please call an agent at 855-GET-AWAY or send us a direct message on one of our social media channels for asssitance.

When will the Hotels of the DISNEYLAND® Resort reopen?

Because of the delayed reopening of the Disneyalnd Resort, Disney's Grand Californian Hotel® Hotel & Spa, Disney's Paradise Pier® Hotel and the Disneyland® Hotel will reopen at a later date. We expect to hear an opening date for these hotels sometime after July 4, 2020, pending state and local government approval. Plans to support physical distancing as well as increased cleaning measures, along with a number of other health and safety protocols, will be implemented as part of the phased reopening of the hotels. We will update this page as soon as we know more information.

When will Downtown Disney reopen?

The Downtown Disney District is now open as of July 9, 2020. Please note that some stores and restaurants may still be closed or have limited hours at this time. Please visit Disneyland's website directly for more information.

Because of this, we've created a blog article that answers our most frequently asked questions regarding this situation. You can visit the Disneyland® Temporary Closure 2020 article by clicking HERE. We know how important family vacations and making memories are, and are grateful for all of your patience and support during this time.

Star Wars: Galaxy's Edge

Can I use Extra Magic Hour or Magic Morning to access Star Wars: Galaxy's Edge?

As of right now, both Extra Magic Hour and Magic Morning at Disneyland® Park will not be available for guests visiting Star Wars: Galaxy's Edge. Because of this, Star Wars: Galaxy's Edge will only be open during normal park operating hours.

Do I need to join a Boarding Group in order to ride Star Wars: Rise of the Resistance?

Yes, you will need to join a boarding group in order to ride Star Wars: Rise of the Resistance. It's important to note that there is not a stand-by line for this attraction. Because of the popularity surrounding Star Wars: Rise of the Resistance, we highly recommend getting to Disneyland® Park 30 min. prior to opening to increase the likelihood of joining a boarding group.

To join a boarding group, you will either need access to the Disneyland® app or get a Boarding Pass at one of the physical kiosks located in Disneyland® Park. Once the Park has officially opened, you can open the Disneyland® app and click on "Star Wars: Rise of the Resistance - Access by Boarding Group." Once you have clicked on this widget, it will re-direct you to a page where you can click on "Join Boarding Group." Once you have successfully joined a Boarding Group, you will be able see the Boarding Group that has been assigned to you. Once your Boarding Group has been called, you have two (2) hours to ride the attraction. Please note that having a Boarding Pass does not guarantee that you will be able to ride the attraction. For more information regarding Star Wars: Rise of the Resistance, click HERE.
