How to Create Unforgettable Birthday Memories At Disney World
August 4, 2023

What could be better than spending your birthday with princesses, riding thrilling roller coasters, and experiencing all of your favorite movies come to life? Whether you’re a kid or simply a kid-at-heart, there is no more magical place to celebrate a birthday than at Disney World. Whatever your birthday wishes may be, there are many ways to create unforgettable memories.

1. Let Everyone Know

Don’t talk about Bruno, but do talk about your birthday! When you buy Disney World tickets, you can reference the birthday celebration in your reservations. When you make sit-down dining bookings, plan a makeover at the Bibbidi Bobbidi Boutique, or get tickets to any other unique activity, include a note letting the cast members know it’s your special day. When you check in to dine, tell the host you’re celebrating.

Disney World cast members love to go above and beyond whenever possible to make your experience memorable. Don’t be shy about it; you may be treated to extra surprises.

2. What to Wear

Deciding what to wear to Disney World is even more exciting on your birthday. Get matching commemorative shirts with friends and family, or stand out on your own with birthday themed Mickey Mouse Ears.

The easiest way to let everyone know it’s your special day is to pick up a Disney Birthday Button. Disney Birthday Buttons are colorful and available for free. These buttons will let cast members know it’s your birthday without you having to say a thing, which is perfect for more shy guests. Buttons are available at Guest Relations, the front desk of Disney World Resort hotels and other locations around each theme park. You will even find “I’m Celebrating!” buttons for friends and family to enjoy.

3. Don’t Forget the Cake

You can’t celebrate a birthday without the birthday cake! Disney World makes it easy with signature Mickey Mouse Celebration Cakes. These cute Mickey themed white, milk or dark chocolate cakes serve four to six guests and are sure to impress more than the pink and blue disaster made by Sleeping Beauty’s fairies. Order ahead of time when you make dining reservations, and it will be delivered to the table-service restaurant you’ve chosen.

If you need something larger or custom designed, there is also the option to order a specialty cake through Amorette’s Patisserie located in Disney Springs. The cake artists at Amorette’s can make all sorts of sweet magic, but you will have to pick up your custom creation.

If you’d like something other than cake, and you’re staying at a Disney hotel or resort, you may also arrange for in-room flowers, banners, balloons, or gift baskets with snack foods. This little touch can add a lot to an important birthday celebration.

4. Spa Days and Water Parks

While not ideal for younger Disney birthday guests, teens and older guests may enjoy some pampering at a Disney spa. Walt Disney World hotel packages can include time at one of the resort spas. Massages, couples treatments, body treatments, and manicures are available. Book yourself and your guests for an afternoon relaxation for the ultimate birthday indulgence.

If you’re celebrating a younger guest’s birthday, consider adding tickets to one of the Walt Disney Water Parks to your package instead. Disney’s Typhoon Lagoon and Blizzard Beach Water Park attractions offer fun in the sun for the whole family, and can make your youngster’s birthday celebration even more memorable.

5. Splurge on an Elaborate Party

If you really want to go all out on a big birthday bash, Walt Disney World actually has event planners on staff. Disney Meetings & Events can help you arrange a magical, custom designed party. There are many different venues to choose from that offer immersive experiences, themed decorations, excellent catering options, and more.

Say happy birthday with a bang by adding fireworks to the party schedule. There are a couple of splurge-worthy ways to share the Magic Kingdom fireworks show with your friends and family. Choose between a dessert party on the terrace of Tomorrowland Restaurant, or a Dessert Cruise on the Seven Seas Lagoon.

6. Document the Adventure

No matter what your Disney World birthday adventure looks like, be sure to capture all of the celebration and excitement. PhotoPass photographers are located at select attractions around the Disney World Resort. This add on is a great opportunity to get professional photos with everyone in the group, and these photos make the perfect birthday vacation souvenir. A Capture Your Moment photography session will guarantee great solo shots of the birthday guest as well.

Whether planning a milestone birthday blowout or wishing for an intimate celebration with close family and friends, a trip to Walt Disney World lets you bring your biggest birthday dreams to life. Any day at Disney is fun, memorable, and exciting, but birthdays take the cake.
