Disneyland Resort
Disneyland Reservation System FAQ
September 25, 2020
Author: Kimberly Fidler

UPDATED: September 25, 2020: The Disneyland Resort is currently awaiting government approval to reopen. The State of California will provide theme park reopening guidelines, which were reported to be coming "very, very soon" On Wednesday, September 16, 2020. While that plan has not been released yet, the Disneyland Resort has been working fervishly towards opening with the industry standard for health and safety. As part of these safety protocols, the Disneyland Resort has confirmed they will be limiting park attendance to accommodate social distancing via a Park reservation system. We've compiled everything we know about the yet to be released Disneyland reservation system to help you know what to expect.

Disneyland Reservation System

Disneyland Reservation System FAQ

Although little information about the Disneyland reservation system has been released by Disney, our most frequently asked questions tend to revolve around it. We've put together everything we know about the new reservation system and will update this article as new information comes out.

Reservation System Ticket Questions

Will I need a park reservation to get into Disneyland, even if I already have my tickets?

Yes, anyone planning to visit the Disneyland Resort in the near future will need to make a park reservation AND have a valid theme park ticket in order to enter Disneyland Park and/or Disney California Adventure Park.

Do I need a ticket to make a reservation for Disneyland?

Yes, in order to access the Disneyland reservation system and make a theme park reservation, you'll already need to have a theme park ticket. The Disneyland Resort has temporarily paused selling all new tickets in order to ensure those who already have tickets will be able to get Park reservations.

Can I make a reservation for Disneyland with an Annual Pass?

Yes, Annual Passholders will be able to make Park reservations using Disney's reservation system once it is available.

Disneyland Reservation System Details

How do I make a Park reservation? Should I upload my tickets to the Disneyland Resort app?

The Disneyland Resort has not released what their system will be like, so at this time, we don't have any information on how to make a park reservation. We will notify all of our ticket holders via email as soon as we have this information. We also will share to our social media channels as soon as the information has been released.

The Walt Disney World Resort has been using a theme park reservation system since their parks opened in July. This system is done online and does not use the app.

Because we don't know what system will be used to manage park reservations, we do not recommend uploading your tickets to the Disneyland Resort app. If that changes, we will notify you.

When can I make a reservation for Disneyland?

The Disneyland Resort has not released the details of their Park reservation. However, we expect that once Disney releases how the system will work, they'll release when the system will be available. We expect that first the State of California will release theme park guidelines. Then, we expect the Disneyland Resort will first announce an official opening date. Once an approved opening date has been announced, we expect them to release how and when the Disneyland Park reservation system will be released.

How far out can I make a Park reservation for Disneyland?

The Disneyland Resort has not announced how far out they will be accepting and requiring reservations for the theme parks of the Disneyland Resort. We anticipate that Park reservations will be required at least for the remainder of 2020, however, that could change. Additionally, we do not know how many days in advance will be required or available to make a Park reservation. We will update this page as soon as we know.

Do I need to make a Park reservation on my own to visit the DISNEYLAND Resort, or will Get Away Today make a Park reservation for me?

Get Away Today is not responsible for making your Park reservation and is unable to do so. You will be responsible for making your own Park reservation in order to visit the Disneyland Resort.

Reservation System Date Questions

Does Get Away Today have my correct travel dates?

Although we find it easiest to communicate with our guests when we have their correct travel details, the dates in our system will not be connected to the Disneyland reservation system. The dates in Get Away Today's system will not need to match the dates you choose using Disney's Park reservation system. You will not need to let us know which dates you have selected to use your Disneyland tickets.

Do I have to know my exact dates to make a Park reservation?

You will need to know your exact travel dates in order to make a Park reservation. We recommend determining your dates before attempting to make Park reservations.

If I can’t make a Park reservation - can I reschedule my vacation?

Although Park reservations aren't guaranteed, we feel confident that by Disney stopping new ticket sales, and opening up park reservations to current ticket holders only, getting a Park reservation will be very probable. If in the unlikely case that you are not able to get your desired Park reservation, Get Away Today is offering no-fee reschedules for travel through 2021.

Theme Park Questions

Can I Park Hop as part of the Disneyland Reservation System? What about MaxPass?

The Disneyland Resort has not announced anything official as to whether or not Park Hopping or MaxPass will be permitted. This will be updated as we get new information.

How many people will be allowed into Disneyland or Disney California Adventure Park?

Disney has not released how many reservations will be available on a daily basis, and the State of California has not released guidelines which may or may not include exact capacity percentages. We imagine that those numbers could change as they evaluate how everything is going, and new reservations could open up on select days if they feel comfortable.
