UPDATED MAY 2023. Disneyland is the Happiest Place on Earth and we’re here to help your vacation be the Find out our top places to relax in Disneyland to help keep your family happy at the Disneyland Resort.

If your idea of a Disneyland vacation is pushing through crowds and rushing around, you're missing some of the best parts of a magical vacation. With proper planning a Disneyland Resort vacation can even be—dare we say it, relaxing? As your partner in travel, we have put together a list of the best places to relax in Disneyland when you just need a little break.

Places to Relax in Disneyland Park

Disneyland Park truly is magical. But even a place full of magic needs some serene places to unwind and relax. That’s where we come in! We have scoped out of top picks so you can enjoy all the hustle and bustle, along with a place to rest your feet.

Relax at the Disneyland Child Care Center

There are two Child Care Centers located in the Disneyland Resort; one in Disneyland and one in Disney California Adventure. If you have small kids, or anyone in your family who gets overwhelmed by too much stimuli, you'll definitely want to check out the Child Care Centers.

The first thing you’ll likely notice every time is the absence of sound. It is quiet and peaceful. If you are nursing, pumping, or even just need a quiet space, there are rocking chairs that are sectioned off with sheet dividers. This is also a perfect place to help avoid any potential Disneyland meltdowns, along with some tips we have here.

Relax in Mickey’s Toontown

Mickey’s Toontown offers new ways, places and spaces to explore and unwind. There’s even some quiet corners here and there. Kids will love the splash zones, play areas and interactive elements to this quirky land.

Relax on the Monorail and Visit The Disneyland Hotel

Climb aboard the Monorail in Tomorrowland and escape for a bit to Trader Sam's and the surrounding areas at the Disneyland Hotel. You don't have to be a guest at the Disneyland Hotel to enjoy many of its public areas and restaurants.

One of our favorite places to relax in Disneyland is Trader Sam's Enchanted Tiki Bar. If you go during the off hours, you'll likely find a table with ease. However, if you're going when it's busier, there are other areas nearby where you can relax and enjoy live island music and the soft glow of tiki torches. The Disneyland Hotel also features an outdoor fire pit near the pool that is accessible to anyone.

Places to Relax in California Adventure Park

California Adventure is such a well thought out theme park with distinct areas made for exploring and spreading out. We’re sharing our top picks to relax right here at California Adventure.

Relax and Play at Redwood Creek Challenge Trail

This is on top of our Get Away Today’s team list. It is tucked away on the quiet side of Disney California Adventure Park, along the path from the private entrance to TEXT HERE.

It's a perfect spot if you have kids who need to get out their wiggles, or anyone who just wants a little bit of peace and quiet. There are bridges, rope swings, slides and tunnels and more for the kids. There are benches and seating in the shade for tired grown ups. While there are many places to explore, there is only one entrance and exit.

Relax Inside Disney's Grand Californian Hotel & Spa Lobby

You don't need to be a guest staying at the hotel to enjoy its public spaces; you'll just need to enter from Downtown Disney or Disney California Adventure Park.

There is something so homey, yet majestic about the lobby at Disney's Grand. There are tons of cozy chairs, live piano music and a roaring fire. There's also a TV that plays classic Disney cartoons for little ones to keep them busy. The lobby is air conditioned when it's hot outside, and heated when the weather is a little chilly.

If you're visiting during the holidays, you'll be treated with views of one of the largest Christmas trees at the resort. No matter the time of year you visit, the lobby at the Grand is a perfect place for a midday break or calm evening.

Relax at Flo’s V8 Cafe

If you're in the middle of Cars Land, you'll find an oasis at Flo's V8 Cafe. This quick service restaurant is amazing.

Not only does it serve home style cooking in hearty portions, there is also fun music and plenty of seating. The restaurant itself has tons of indoor and outdoor seating, but our favorite is the patio. It is tucked away alongside Radiator Springs Racers.

You can watch all of the action without the crowds. And since it's a quick service restaurant, it is incredibly casual. You can easily enjoy the space without ordering from the restaurant or use mobile order to boost the relaxation and cut back on wait times. It is such a fun place to relax in Disneyland!

Relax During a Show

Air conditioning anyone? Relax during one of the indoor shows at California Adventure Park. We love Sunset Showcase Theater located in Hollywood Land. This theater is currently showing Mickey’s Philharmagic throughout the day and offers little wait time with lots of seating indoors.

Another option for a limited time this summer 2023 is Rogers: The Musical which will run at the Hyperion Theater right next to Avengers Campus. The theater holds nearly 2,000 people at a time, so you can usually walk in and get a seat, even during busier times.

Another cool indoor spot is Disney Junior Dance Party, but it is a little more lively there! If you want to chill out for a bit but your kids are full of energy, this is a great place to come for a show. You can sit on the benches surrounding the back and kids can dance and enjoy Disney characters up front by the stage.

Relax in the Animation Building

Another top place to relax is the Animation Building located inside Disney California Adventure Park. This space houses many attractions including:
  • Sorcerer's Workshop
  • Turtle Talk with Crush
  • Royal Meet and Greet with Anna and Elsa
  • Animation Academy
  • Beast’s Library

You could truly spend hours exploring here. Or just sit down and relax in the spacious hub of the building. The main entrance is a dimly lit room surrounded with giant screens. There are comfortable couches in the middle and snippets of Disney movies play continuously.

Relax at California Adventure Child Care Center

There are two Child Care Centers located in the Disneyland Resort; one in Disneyland and one in Disney California Adventure. If you have small kids, or anyone in your family who gets overwhelmed by too much stimuli, you'll definitely want to check out the Child Care Centers.

The first thing you’ll likely notice every time is the absence of sound. It is quiet and peaceful. If you are nursing, pumping, or even just need a quiet space, there are rocking chairs that are sectioned off with sheet dividers
