21 Things to do at Disneyland This Summer

By Kimberly Fidler 06/10/2015

The Disneyland Resort is the quintessential summer vacation destination. There is so much to do year-round, but summertime brings its own unique excitement. If you're planning a trip, (and you totally should be), here is my list of 21 things to do at Disneyland this summer:

1. First, watch Paint the Night Parade. It is the show that everyone is raving about. If you watch the first showing, you can hang out afterwards for Disneyland Forever. If you watch the second show, you'll have fewer crowds. The best viewing spots are Main Street U.S.A. or along the parade route by it's a small world.

2. Get a Fastpass for the new World of Color - Celebrate! Don't miss this all new version of the nighttime spectacular. You can get a Fastpass from the Grizzly River Run in the morning, or make a reservation for one of three World of Color dining packages.

3. Watch Disneyland Forever from as many different locations as possible. It can be seen in front of Sleeping Beauty Castle, the Matterhorn, "it's a small world," Main Street U.S.A., and Rivers of America.

4. Grab a Fastpass for Fantasmic and see if you can get a spot for the first viewing. Then, stick around after the show for the Rivers of America view of Disneyland Forever.

5. Get your picture taken in front of the diamond-ized Sleeping Beauty Castle.Isn't it gorgeous?

6. Meet Anna and Elsa at their Royal Welcome in the Animation Building. Get a Fastpass in the morning, then come back at your return time and enjoy the air conditioned building.

7. Speaking of air conditioning, make sure to catch a showing of Aladdin at the Hyperion Theater in Disney California Adventure. There isn't a bad seat in the house at this Broadway style show, and the genie is always coming up with something new.

8. Head on over to the Diamond Mad T Party. This high octane party starts when the sun goes down and keeps going until about 10pm on summer nights.

9. Eat an Olaf strawberry lemonade ice cream bar, or another frozen treat. They just hit the spot on a summer day.

10. Ride the new and improved Matterhorn.

11. Check out the enhancements on Peter Pan's Flight with a new nursery scene and new technology. (scheduled to open July 1)

12. Cool off on the Grizzly River Run. This ride is the best during the summer!

13. Soar above an upgraded Soarin' Over California in HD.

14. Explore the new re-imagined Grizzly Peak Airfield and grab lunch at Smokejumpers Grill.

15. Shop for a pair of sparkly Mickey or Minnie Ears to celebrate the 60th.

16. Ride Splash Mountain. Like the Grizzly River Run, this is another ride that is the best during summer.

17. Join your favorite Frozen characters at For the First Time in Forever: A Frozen Sing-along Celebration for a fun-filled interactive show.

18. Have breakfast with Minnie and Friends at the Plaza Inn on Main Street. It's the only Character Dining location inside Disneyland and there's no better way to start your day at the Happiest Place on Earth!

19. Watch the neon lights come on at Cars Land at dusk. This area of the park completely transforms right before your eyes.

20. Enter to win daily prizes as part of the Diamond Celebration. Rules and the "Word of the Day" will be posted at the Resort.

21. Race to the Fastpass line for Radiator Springs Racers first thing in the morning. If you want to get in an extra ride, consider jumping in the Singe Rider Line for a shorter wait.

Of course, there is so much more to do at the Disneyland Resort. We recommend staying as long as possible so you can enjoy it all. The night entertainment alone is enough to make you want a 5-day ticket, whether you plan on spending all day inside the parks or not! You can get a free day with our 4-day Disneyland tickets so you'll have five full days to experience it all. Combine that with our free night hotel specials, and you've got a pretty sweet deal. You can check out all of our Disneyland packages online, or call our Disney Experts at 855-GET-AWAY.
