Monstrous Summer Kicks Off with Monster Fun Over Memorial Day

By Kimberly Fidler 05/21/2013

A Monstrous Summer is coming to the Disneyland Resort with a colossal lineup of unforgettable experiences, including entertainment enhancements celebrating the characters of “Monsters University,” the new Disney•Pixar film coming to theaters this summer.

Mike and Sulley are dropping in from MU to scare up fun all summer long. Some of the monstrous surprises in store include all-new, collegiate settings where your family can meet your favorite aspiring scarers. At Disney California Adventure Park, Mike and Sulley can be found right outside the university dorms, recreated in Hollywood Land.

Also at Disney California Adventure Park, Mike and Sulley show their MU spirit as they lead daily performances of the Pixar Play Parade.

The festivities will kick off over Memorial Day Weekend with an exciting Disney Parks Monstrous Summer All-Nighter. The Park doors to both Disneyland and Disney California Adventure will open at 6am on May 24 and stay open until 6am on May 25! (As a note, parts of Disney California Adventure Park will be closed off from 11pm-4am for an exclusive Grad Night party.)

Monsters Inc. screenings will start at 9pm inside the Muppet Theater at Disney California Adventure and the stars of the show (Mike and Sulley) will be posing for photos with guests. Over in Disneyland, Star Wars characters will be hovering around the Tomorrowland Terrace where a dance party will go until 5:30am. Two other parties will also be taking place at the same time including the "Jump, Jive, Boogie Swing Party," which will be happening at the new Fantasy Faire, and Mickey and friends will be hosting a pajama party for tiny tykes over in Mickey's Toontown. Plus, special limited time merchandise will be available beginning May 24 commemorating this monster-sized event while supplies last.
