Since the Walt Disney World Resort is so big and offers so many hotel options, it can be hard to make the decision of where to stay on your next trip. That’s where Get Away Today comes in! Many of our agents have experienced these hotels for themselves and are able to give you the best advice based on your family and trip needs. Today, we’re looking at Disney’s Coronado Springs Resort. Although the hotel is currently undergoing some construction, its rooms were recently renovated, and it offers a fair share of dining options. Plus, most of the construction will be completed early 2019, making it a great choice for next year’s vacation! Read our Disney’s Coronado Springs Resort review below and let us know what you think!

Disney’s Coronado Springs Resort Review – Rooms:

The Coronado Springs Resort offers a variety of rooms and suites for families of all sizes. The first option are their usual rooms, which offer 2 queen beds and either a standard or water view. If you’re traveling without kids, there are king bed rooms available as well, although they are at a slightly higher rate than the standard 2 queen bed rooms. Each of these rooms showcases a modern take on the Southwest, with a long desk that offers plenty of storage and a bathroom that has a separate vanity with two sinks. You never realize how amazing two sinks are in a hotel until you travel with your family for the first time!

If you’re looking for a little more room, you may want to consider the suites at Disney’s Coronado Springs Resort. The Junior Suites offer either 2 queen beds and 1 queen sofa sleeper or 1 king bed and 1 queen sofa sleeper in a large studio suite arrangement, with an additional living room space that holds the sleeper sofa. For those looking for a little more separation, the Casitas Suites offer a bedroom separate from the living room area and the same options for bedding. These suites will fit 4-6 people, depending on which bedding arrangement is chosen. The last option is the Casitas Executive Suite, which fits up to 8 people and offers two bedrooms, a dining room, wet bar and living room. It’s definitely the option for you if you’re traveling with a big group or looking for a deluxe stay!

Disney’s Coronado Springs Resort Review – Amenities and Resort Perks:

This has to be our favorite part of the Disney’s Coronado Springs Resort review; all of the amenities and perks you’ll receive for staying here. The resort offers the usual Disney World Resort Hotel offerings, like free transportation to and from the Orlando International Airport, complimentary Magic Bands when you book your stay with tickets and free transportation between all of the Disney World theme parks and water parks. Additionally, you’ll have access to booking your FastPass+ selections 60 days in advance instead of the usual 30 days for those who aren’t staying at a Disney World hotel. You’ll also be able to shop in the parks and send your items directly to your hotel to be picked up later – no need to carry souvenirs around the park all day!

What amenities are exclusive to the Coronado? First, Disney’s Coronado Springs Resort offers free Wifi, parking for $19 a night, laundry and dry-cleaning services, childcare services and mail services – similar to many of the other Disney World Resort Hotels. However, the Coronado has its own full-service spa and fitness center called the La Vida Health Club. The fitness equipment is free for all hotel guests and spa services, as well as salon services, can be added on for an additional cost. Also unique to the Coronado are its volleyball sand court, campfire activities and beautiful pools, which we’ll talk about in our Disney’s Coronado Springs Resort review below.

Disney’s Coronado Springs Resort Review – Pools and Activities:

Families will love the Coronado Springs, since it offers so many things for them to do besides the theme parks. Specifically, the resort offers three leisure pools throughout the Casitas, Ranchos and Cabanas areas. Its crowning jewel is the Dig Site, a sprawling pool area with a Mayan theme. The Lost City of Cibola pool is the main feature here, with a 50-foot pyramid centerpiece and 123-foot-long waterslide. The Dig Site is also where you’ll find the largest hot tub on Disney World property, with room to fit up to 22 people, and a kiddie pool. A white-sand volleyball court and the Iguana Arcade are right next door, offering even more for the family to do.

With so much space, it’s no surprise that the Coronado Springs Resort offers seasonal activities. Throughout the year, you can find Movies Under the Stars on select nights at the Dig Site. You’ll be able to enjoy some classic Disney films while relaxing under the evening sky. This is also where campfires are held on select nights as well. Your family will be able to roast marshmallows and enjoy some quality time together – just check the Front Desk for available times during your stay.

Disney’s Coronado Springs Resort Review – Dining:

It’s important to know what dining options are available and we made sure not to skip over that in our Disney’s Coronado Springs Resort review. While enjoying the Spanish-colonial Mexico backdrop of the hotel, you’ll be able to experience five different dining offerings. The Maya Grill features Tex-Mex cuisine an dis open for dinner, while the Café Rix and El Mercado De Coronado are open for all three meals with a variety of foods available. Breakfast and lunch are available at the Siestas Cantina that sits poolside at the Dig Site, making it great for a heavier snack or light cocktail. Rix Sports Bar & Grill is the newest lounge, catering to all three meals of the day as well as bar selections in the evening.

Nearly all of the dining experiences at Disney’s Coronado Springs Resort accept the Disney Dining Plan as well. Having so many dining options available is perfect, since it makes it easy to enjoy a meal or two without leaving your hotel.

Disney’s Coronado Springs Resort Review – Location:

Location is important when it comes to the Walt Disney World Resort. Since the four theme parks are so widely spread, it can be beneficial to stay closer to the one you prefer the most and cut down on your travel time. Disney’s Coronado Springs Resort lies almost perfectly between Disney’s Animal Kingdom and Disney’s Hollywood Studios, with Disney’s Blizzard Beach Water Park the closest. Epcot is the next closest park, with Disney’s Typhoon Lagoon Water Park and Magic Kingdom following.

If you enjoy Disney’s Animal Kingdom or Disney’s Hollywood Studios, this may be the perfect hotel for you. It’s also important to keep in mind that not many value or moderate property options are available near the Magic Kingdom. So even if the Magic Kingdom is your favorite, you may want to consider the price and value of this moderate property in your planning. Rest assured that Disney does their best to cut down on the travel and wait times between all of the hotels and theme parks.

Disney’s Coronado Springs Resort Review – Construction:

We had to make a final mention in our Disney’s Coronado Springs Resort review about the current construction taking place. Construction just began on the Dig Site, volleyball court, playground, Iguana Arcade and Siestas Cantina. They are closed during the refurbishment while all other pool areas and amenities are open for enjoyment. No end date has been given for the construction, but it’s rumored that the hotel would like it completed for early 2019. If you are traveling before then, you will likely receive some fun construction pins when you check in. Plus, the hotel will do its best to make sure you are as comfortable and taken care of as possible. If you are traveling later next year, then you don’t need to worry and can instead be excited to experience the newly refurbished areas!
