2015 Travelers Choice Theme Parks Awards Announced

By Kimberly Fidler 07/21/2015

We were so excited when the results of the Travelers Choice Awards were announced. TripAdvisor used travelers' reviews from all over the world to come up with a list based on actual experiences. It was no surprise that all but three of the top 10 guest rated theme pakrs are located in two of our most popular destinations - Florida and Southern California! Here's a quick overview of the top 10 and what we think you'll love about them:

1. Universal’s Islands of Adventure – Orlando, Florida

Two words. Harry Potter. Universal's Islands of Adventure is home to the first ever Harry Potter theme park - the Wizarding World of Harry Potter - Hogsmeade. Here you'll find Hogwarts, Butter Beer, the Dragon Challenge roller coasters, and more. When you're done exploring on this side of the Wizarding World of Harry Potter, you can ride the Hogwart's Express over to Universal Studios Florida. But, Universal's Islands of Adventure has more to offer than the magical world of the boy wizard. You'll also find super hero attractions like the Incredible Hulk Coaster and The Amazing Adventures of Spider Man, a touch of Dr. Suess with The Cat in the Hat, and so much more.

2. Discovery Cove – Orlando, Florida

This is truly a unique theme park, being that it's all-inclusive and requires a reservation. Park attendance is limited to 1,300 guests per day, and includes meals, snorkeling, equipment rentals, and up-and-close interactions with rays, tropical fish, birds, and so much more. The highlight of a day at Discovery Cove is the 30 minute dolphin interaction, which is a dream come true.

3. Magic Kingdom – Orlando, Florida

The Magic Kingdom is one of the most attended parks in the world, and it's definitely one of the most magical. It recently underwent a major transformation including an all-new Fantasyland. New rides, interactive queues, and their My Magic+ bands make the Magic Kingdom a perfect park experience.

4. Universal Studios Hollywood – Los Angeles, California

Universal Studios Hollywood is celebrating its 50th anniversary so it seems fitting that they are #4 on the list. The park recently unveiled the new Springfield where visitors can grab a real Krusty burger. Despicable Me: Minion Mayhem, Super Silly Fun Land, and character meet-n-greets are a huge draw for lovers of the animated film series. For the first time ever the park is also offering a nighttime version of their famous Studio Tour on select nights. But, the biggest addition to Universal Studios Hollywood is the Fast and the Furious Ride which is now part of the Studio Tour. It is a rush unlike anything you've ever experienced.

5. Disney’s Hollywood Studios – Orlando, Florida

Disney's Hollywood Studios transports you straight into the world of some of your favorite films. Known for thrilling adventure rides like The Twilight Zone Tower of Terror, Rock 'n' Roller Coaster starring Aerosmith, Star Tours, and so much more, you will continually find yourself back at Hollywood Studios!

6. Universal Studios Florida – Orlando, Florida

Muggles have been flocking to Universal Studios Florida to experience Diagon Alley and the new Harry Potter and the Escape from Gringotts ride. Tucked away behind a brick wall with no signs, you sneak into Diagon Alley just as they do in the books and movies! The atmosphere, the shops, the entertainment, the secrets and all the magic make you feel right at home in the Harry Potter Universe. Stepping back out into the real world of Universal Studios Florida, you can ride enormous one-of-a-kind roller coasters like Hollywood Rip Ride Rockit, where you choose you own music as you fly through this breathtaking experience. Other can't miss attractions include Revenge of the Mummy, Despicable Me Minion Mayhem, E.T. Adventure, The Simpsons Ride (in the life size Springfield), TRANSFORMERS: The Ride 3-D, along with many many more incredible and exciting rides!

7. Europa-Park – Rust, Germany

8. Disneyland Park – Anaheim, California

There is nothing like the original park that started it all. Disneyland Park is especially incredible this year as it celebrates 60 years of making memories with the Disneyland Resort Diamond Celebration. Three new nighttime shows include Paint the Night, an all-new electric light parade, World of Color - Celebrate!, and Disneyland Forever, an interactive fireworks spectacular.

9. Beto Carrero World – Penha, Brazil

10. PortAventura Park – Salou, Spain
