Disneyland Resort: What's New for 2013

By Kimberly Fidler 01/08/2013

Get Away Today is your Disneyland vacation expert, and today our contact from the Disneyland Resort stopped by our office to give us a sneak peak about what's coming to the Parks this year.

Now that the Holidays at the Disneyland Resort are over, Mickey's Soundsational Parade is back in full force. This nine float parade is truly an experience that will have you dancing down MainStreet USA. It is currently playing once daily and twice on the weekends. Remember... Dreams Come True, the classic fireworks spectacular is also back on the weekends and the Indiana Jones Adventure recently reopened after a months-long refurbishment. During the refurbishment the hydraulics on the cars were changed for a smoother ride and many of the special effects in the attraction were also enhanced.

New to the Disneyland Resort in 2013 are the Limited Time Magic experiences that we blogged about earlier, but we got a little more information on how these will work. There are three tiers to the Limited Time Magic experiences; Celebrations, Nostalgic Experiences, and Traditional Celebrations.  The largest will be the classic Celebrations which will include an Independence Week celebration, a Star Wars celebration, Monster Summer, which will coincide with the release of Disney·Pixar's Monsters University, and others to come. Nostalgic Experiences will include special character experiences from years' past. The Golden Horseshoe Revue will be the first experience of this type, but many more are to come. And finally, the Traditional Celebrations will highlight some of the less celebrated holidays like Mothers Day and Fathers Day, which will each be turned into week long celebrations.

And finally, Disneyland Park will welcome two new attractions in 2013 that will be ongoing well after the year is over.  First is the new Fantasy Faire which will open this Spring (hopefully March, although a firm date has not been announced). This will be an immersive experience tucked away in Fantasyland where you'll be able to mingle with your favorite Disney Princesses and even Disney Princes. You can check out some of the concept art to get an idea of what is to come:

The second attraction coming to Disneyland in 2013 is Mickey and the Magical Map which will be a new Broadway-style show. This exciting musical will take place in the Fantasy Theatre and transport you to all of the magical places Mickey finds on his map beginning Summer 2013. You can get a sneak peak of some of the concept art for this below:

No matter when you choose to visit the Disneyland Resort, you are bound to find magic around every corner. We always recommend booking as early as possible to get the very best deals, but most of all, we recommend booking! Be sure to take your family to experience all that there is at the Disneyland Resort in 2013.
