Epcot 2013 International Flower and Garden Festival

By Christa Lindley 02/27/2013

After a long and dreary winter with record colds breaking all across the nation, springtime is nearly upon us. In my opinion, the best part of spring is the arrival of new flowers to awake your senses by wowing your eyes with color and filling the air with fresh smells. It is also my opinion that nowhere knows how to celebrate this spectacular part of spring quite like Epcot at Walt Disney World.

Just around the corner, beginning March 6th and lasting until May 19th, Epcot will be hosting their 20th annual International Flower & Garden Festival. During this time the park will be coming to life with DIY at the HGTV Designers’ Stage, the Flower Power Concert Series, fantastic food, and of course, too many blooms to count!!

On the weekends during the festival you can learn the best spring cleaning and home improvement tips from some of your favorite HGTV and DIY personalities during the day and stay to check out a concert at night! The Flower Power Concert Series will be jammin’ out to tunes from the ‘50s through the ‘90s. To see a complete list of performers and home improvement specialists click here!

To satisfy your taste buds, each country at Epcot will offer fabulous cuisine inspired by spring! You will find fresh fruit tarts in France, spring pea and mushroom bread pudding in Germany, and “frushi” or fruit sushi found in Japan; just to name a few. Wash it all down with your drink of choice ranging from mango and blueberry wines to nonalcoholic wild berry slush.

And we can’t forget the flowers!!! This year the festival will have new dazzling topiary displays including Party with Mickey and Friends, Disney Pixar’s “Monsters University” featuring Mike and Sully, Phineas and Ferb, and Disney Pixar’s “Radiator Springs” featuring Lightning McQueen and Friends. There will also be returning favorites like Beauty and the Beast, The Lion King, Peter Pan, Lady and the Tramp, Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs, and much more! According to Disney there will be over 75 topiaries in all, as well as newly themed gardens. The blossoming magic continues into night while some of the topiaries and gardens light up, creating an enchantment you’re not soon to forget!
