What You Need to Know About the Opening of Star Wars: Galaxy's Edge

We hope that our video answered all of your questions about the opening of Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge! Just in case you missed anything, here’s a summary of what we discussed below:

When does Star Wars Disneyland: Galaxy’s Edge open?

Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge will open at the Disneyland Resort on May 31, 2019 and at the Walt Disney World Resort on August 29, 2019. However, it’s important to note that guests who visit Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge at Disneyland Park between May 31 – June 23, 2019 will need valid theme park admission and will be required to make a no-cost reservation to access the land. This is Disney’s way of helping ensure your experience at Galaxy’s Edge is the very best when it first opens and crowds are expected to be at higher volume.

However, at Walt Disney’s Hollywood Studios, guests will not need a reservation to experience Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge at this time.

How can I make a reservation to experience Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge?

REMINDER: RESERVATIONS ARE NO LONGER REQUIRED FOR GALAXY'S EDGE AS OF JUNE 24, 2019. VIRTUAL BOARDING PASSES WILL BE AVAILABLE TO LIMIT CAPACITY. While Disney hasn’t released any information on how to make reservations at Star Wars Disneyland yet, we do know that reservations will be available on Disneyland’s official website at a later date. As soon as we hear any information regarding this, we’ll be sure to update this post as soon as possible, and share on our social media channels. Be sure you are following Get Away Today on Facebook, Instagram and YouTube.

It’s important to note that guests who stay at any of the three Disneyland Resort Hotels (Disney’s Grand Californian Hotel & Spa, Disneyland Hotel and Disney’s Paradise Pier Hotel) will receive a designated reservation to access Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge (one per registered guest) for travel May 31 – June 23, 2019. So, if you've never stayed at one of the Disneyland Resort Hotels, now is definitely the time to try one of them out!

Can I use Extra Magic Hour or Magic Morning to get in early?

As of right now, both Extra Magic Hour and Magic Morning at Disneyland Park will not be available for guests wanting to visit Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge. Because of this, Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge will only be open during normal park operating hours. For more information about specific operating hours, please check the Disneyland website directly.

In contrast, guests who visit Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge at Walt Disney World in Florida will be able to access Extra Magic Hours at Disney’s Hollywood Studios. Additionally, guests staying at select Walt Disney World Resort hotels will be able to take advantage of Extra Magic Hour and can spend extra time at Disney’s Hollywood Studios enjoying select attractions.

Will both Millennium Falcon: Smuggler’s Run and Star Wars: Rise of the Resistance be open for the debut?

Disney unveiled today that Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge was going to be debuted in two phases. For the grand-opening of Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge at Disneyland Park, only Millennium Falcon: Smuggler’s Run will be open.

Because Star Wars: Rise of the Resistance is filled with new and immersive technology never seen before, this attraction will open during phase two of Star Wars Disneyland, rumored to be later in 2019.

Can I reserve FASTPASS, FastPass+ or MaxPass for Millennium Falcon: Smuggler’s Run?

Initially, time-saving services like FASTPASS, including Disney MaxPass at the Disneyland Resort and FastPass+ at the Walt Disney World Resort will not be available for guests queuing up for the new Star Wars rides. However, this is no need to lose out hope! Disney did announce that they will continually evaluate the operations and services of Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge, in order to provide a great guest experience.
