Disneyland churro popcorn is one of the newest flavors added to the kettle corn collection available at Main Street USA. Make your own at home with our easy Disneyland churro popcorn recipe.

I am bursting with excitement about the fun recipe we are sharing today on the blog. It is certainly a good day to "pop" in to see what's cookin'. Disneyland recently announced a brand new line of kettle corn that will be sold in the shops on Main Street USA. If you are already a fan of the traditional flavors like Caramel, Cheddar, or Confetti, don't worry, they are sticking around. Added to the kettle corn lineup are: Sriracha, Parmesan Garlic, Truffle, Maple Bacon, and Churro!

What do you think about these unique flavor combinations? I am not surprised that the Maple Bacon flavor is already a hit. Bacon makes everything better, right? But, I was most excited to try the churro! The word on Main Street USA is that churro kettle corn is pretty fantastic. Next time you are in the park, give it a try and let us know what you think!

In the meantime, you can make a batch of Disneyland churro popcorn at home with this simple recipe. I had never made kettle corn before, and things went off without a hitch, so I am sure you will be able to do it too!

Disneyland Churro Popcorn -
1/4 cup Coconut Oil
1/4 cup Granulated White Sugar
1/2 cup Popcorn Kernels
1 1/2 tsp Ground Cinnamon
dash of Nutmeg
1/2 tsp Sea Salt
1/4 cup melted butter

Place a big pot on the stove. A pot with a thick bottom is best. Add 1/4 cup of coconut oil and three individual popcorn kernels. The kernels are going to let us know when the oil has been heated to the correct temperature. Turn the heat to medium high. I have a scale of 1-10 on my stove. I used seven.

While the oil is heating, and it won't take very long, put 1/2 cup of popcorn kernels and 1/4 cup sugar into a bowl and mix them together.

When the oil directly around the kernels in the pot starts to bubble and boil, dump the sugar and kernel bowl into the pot. Stir it quickly into the oil. I used a rubber spatula that can withstand high temps. Scrape the bottom of the pot to make sure the sugar doesn't stick. Stir it for about ten to fifteen seconds and then cover the pot with a lid.

Immediately, grab the handles of the pot and start shaking. You want to keep the popcorn moving across the bottom of the pan. This prevents burning and sticking. Keep shaking. It should only take a few moments before the popping begins! The corn will start to burst. Keep shaking the pot in all directions. It will just slide back and forth on your cooking surface. Don't actually pick up the pot and shake! Listen to the timing of the pops. When you start to hear long breaks between popping (over 4-5 seconds), then remove it from the heat. It takes only about 30 seconds from the time the first kernel pops to when it is ready. Do not over cook the popcorn. It will burn.

Dump the popcorn out onto your counter. Then pick it up a handful at a time and place it into a bowl.  Any hard kernels will be left behind on the counter.

Sample some of your kettle corn at this stage just to get you excited. It should be light and crispy with a hint of sweetness. It is really good like this! You could serve it with a dash of salt and it would be a tasty snack. But, since we are making Disneyland churro popcorn... there is a little more magic to it!

Combine 1 and 1/2 tsp cinnamon, a small dash of nutmeg, and 1/2 tsp sea salt in a small bowl and mix them together. Pour 1/4 cup melted butter over the top of the kettle corn and then shake the spices onto the top. Mix it all together really well with your hands until all of the kettle corn is covered evenly.

Popcorn and churros are two of the most "POP"ular theme park snacks at Disneyland. When you mash them together, it creates Disneyland churro popcorn, a treat worthy of Main Street USA.

Next time you're in Disneyland, be sure to grab a bag of the Disneyland churro popcorn and compare it to our recipe. In fact, grab all of the flavors to see which one you like best.
